American Sound AS-2000 Installations- Far East (Tango)

It is why I asked. But then you are not using exactly the standard SME geometry.

The change in sound quality using other headshells can be quite drastic. You'll be surprised at how much can be lost along with added coloration using other headshells, even famous brand ones. Don't take anything for granted when it comes to the 3012-R.

1 minute?

If you use a slotted head shell you don't have to make any adjustments once it is set. How is that not easier?

Slotted headshells I have found can get you into trouble with the 3012R. Since the cart is not in a fixed (unslotted) straight forward position automatically like the SME headshell (no slots), the cart can easily be at a slight offset angle screwing up the SME moving sled alignment procedure using the two point spindle mounted protractor by DB Systems.

For clumsy non steady hand uncoordinated finger action like me, the fixed unslotted headshell using together with the special measurement gauge give me more safety to the cartridge. I also find manualing bigger parts like the arm base or arm slide easier than adjusting small tiny screws to align thing.

Kind regards,
Tang

Tang, that makes sense. I need to get one of David's alignment units and see how it works.

Without the smiling Imoji I’m still guessing your post is tongue in cheek. The gauge eliminates using the cartridge for alignment and with straight side edges it can be done very quickly using the DB Protractor or equivalent.

Now we just need you to offer a package with the sliding gouge, and maybe one of the leather mats for us poorer 3012r users, just until we can afford a AS 2000 of course :)

Your wish is my command! The gauge is universal and will be available shortly, PM me for the leather mat.

Thank you sir !

Relocation done sir. As you recommended Lagonda. Now I can see musicians’ feet. :D
Feeling strangely naked.

Looking good Tang. Just need to add a Vyger to your fleet and you are rocking lol.

I would add a Vyger, and an air tangent and a Schroeder LT on one of the other tables in addition to the pivoted arms

Lol. What about a full time member of staff to flip the vinyl and cue? I am keen Mr Tango - I can double as security and have an insatiable appetite for Tom Yum Goong with extra birds eye chilli.

I think Mister Tang and Miss Chau need to start handing out tickets.

Oh, and Mister Gian too.

Tang, I like the look without the subs. Very clean. I've been wondering where you keep your LPs. I do not see any storage racks. Are they delivered with a smile and coffee in the morning for the day's listening? Could you speak a bit about your musical tastes? Most of the videos that you posted are classic jazz ensembles with vocals. Any classical, large or small, or rock? Hip hop? Punk?

It does look nicely de-cluttered now

May I ask, at what frequency the subs where intended to take over from the midbass horns?
And now, how deep are the midbass horns playing on their own? 50Hz?

On my back wall there are legos of shelf where I store records and audio parts. I posted a pic in a thread somewhere. I like listening to 50's60's vocal jazz. Sarah Vaugh, Billie Holidays, Peggie Lee, Ella. etc. All kinds of acoustic guitars I like. Blues. New Orleans jazz. All kind of jazz actually but no amplified instruments. Latins. 80's British new wave. Classical chambers. Very little classical orchestra. I enjoy today's pop for in car listening.

kind regards,
Tang

Did it improve the sound ? It looks good, but what do i know, i got blue walls !

I am absorbing the new sound. It is sounding as if the yesterday’s sound was obscured. There is more going on when I play New Orleans jazz. More lively. Ddk said my room is a step into dampen territory. If he listen now I think he takes his words back. But the visual might just be playing with my head. I am sounding like MadFloyd.

Tang :)

I'm not quite sure what to make of this. :)

Now you are sounding like an Asian guy who does not know what to do with so much gear
