You guys are too young!
Some of the best B&Ws were from the 1970s.
The DM4s are fantastic and will see off just about any modern stand mount speaker under $8000 A very strong BBC component in their design and they are really similar to the best of the modern Harbeths..
And then there are the DM70s.I have owned quite a few electrostats and still think the DM70s were the pick of them all.The DM4s have a very similar voicing.

Thanks for making me feel young. My first pair was the Matrix 3. A bit sizzling for me in the highs and I went to the 801 series 3.

I've been through many speakers from my first pair of AR's through Maggie's, Apogee's and currently a pair of B&W 801Ds.
