Cable Elevators

I use the same. Best part about the Dark Fields is that they are so easy to put away and re-place.

I also owned the first version of the Dark Fields when I used Shunyata Orion speaker cables. However when I sold the cables the buyer asked for them and I have not visited our Shunyata distributor for long.

There is a review of the original version in Soundstage. http://www.soundstage.com/equipment/shunyata_dark_field.htm

Styrofoam cups may be mans worst invention.

I would never place $10k on the floor.

Another possibilty is to use relatively short and not so heavy cables , stretch the cable a bit by moving the loudspeaker and here you go , were floating .
Another one which is really cool , fill some little bags with helium , attach the ropes to the cable and the floating will start :D

Helium and electricity don't mix.:b

Right after I installed them ;). For me the only purpose they serve is to tidy up cable runs and to keep them off the floor

I remember that you where very enthusiastic about the sonic benefits with cable elevators so I was just curious what made you change your mind?

Only how they looked. No change to my ears but YMMV. TBH I wondered initially if there was an improvement but the more I listened in all honesty I could hear none. I still use them but only for aesthetics

Aha, ok. I misunderstanded you. Seldom you see a person change their mind "at that direction" in audio so that catched my interest.

It was a humbling experience as i quickly learned in a simple swap out test done blinded. I failed miserably. As I said YMMV but this one test on a Saturday afternoon quickly changed whatever positives I said previously. In spite of this I still use them. I noticed in the Shunyata review done on Soundstage the differences were said to be minimal. Well, isn't this waffling by someone who had high expectation bias

In my system, cable elevators were a nice improvement. However, that was using my old cable that utilized a cloth type outer sheath. With my new Nordost cables, I notice no difference whether the cable lies on the carpet or not.
Which would lead one to believe that the construction of the cable is a factor with this tweak. OTOH, I do think that as to aesthetics, lifting the cables off the floor is better and for the price of the Cable Elevators, a nice bonus.

It was a humbling experience...

But an honest and important one at that.

At the very least; cable lifters are non-quantum/charlatan type tweaks that don't pretend to sell impossibility. In this case, any false pretense can easily be verified without having to spend silly money. And, they may even work to some degree depending on the floor & cable type/interaction.

Steve I never visited that forum. I also have good memory. This is not WBF first cable lifter thread and you said:
No sonic benefits whatsoever

Steve,
Were your experiences carried with Valhalla speaker cable? Valhalla's are intrinsically self elevating -it is impossible to keep them flat on the floor unless you nail or glue them!

I appreciate that you have an open mind. But IMHO if you accept that this type of tweak (cable lifters) can have any action you must accept that almost all known tweaks (quantum on non quantum) can change the sound quality.
