Chronosonic XVX.

"We’re going to let you in on a little secret: cutting-edge design never comes easy. Especially when the loudspeaker at the heart of that effort is as complex and as ambitious as the #ChronosonicXVX. Fact is, for nearly a year now, Daryl Wilson and his design team have been focused on little else. Daryl is ultra-obsessed with details. He believes each constituent of his new flagship loudspeaker, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, ultimately contributes to the greater whole. At this elevated level, everything matters. It’s very hard work. But after all the setbacks and triumphs, frustrations and victories, and after the team has systematically overcome all the challenges, the reward is an instrument singularly capable of conveying musical beauty—and at the same time, is supremely beautiful to behold in its own right."

So a new flagship speaker then, the sub section looks deeper than the XLF. Do not see how the XLF continues to exist between Alexx and this.

Interesting metal brace color, the black metal is a nice contrast.

On the one hand the speakers on either side of the XLF will be newer, more refined designs, with finer grained time alignment. on the other hand, I think we'll want to see the price of the XVX. If it is+$300k then that's that's a +$200k gap between top model and the Alexx, while the XLF is circa $200k. If XVX is ~$250k then maybe it does replace the XLF. Wilson tends to build more toward a performance level than a price point. If the XVX is near to the Wamm - but not its equal, too soon for that - there is enough of a gap between XVX and Alexx for another speaker (iirc Alexx development is prior to Wamm), which begs the question how long until XLF is replaced after XVX release? I'm confident Wilson knows that answer already. :->

sounds about right...:)

But doesn’t the XLF still have the problem that most people would prefer an Alexx plus Subsonics for approximately the same price as the XLF by itself?

When ever I heard the Alexx it was never short on bass and IMO no need for the Subsonics

... would prefer ...

That reads like there should be an if clause in that sentence somewhere. If it said do prefer then we'd be talking with sales numbers in our hands. Maybe you mean would prefer if they could afford it. :)

I'd be surprised that Wilson makes future lineup choices based on the likelihood of subwoofer purchases with a specific model.

If the XLF has a "problem", it's a 2011 birthdate in in late 2020.

What is the driver complement?

Is the top-middle box the tweeter?

The 7" lower mid drivers were the last design project Dave completed before his passing. This is the first time they have been used.

There are no Alexx mid drivers in XVX.

Liking the exposed sides as a design feature. Will the exposed metal be painted or not? It looks painted on the white prototype in the last pic but not in the earlier one.

Never mind, answered my own question about the exposed metal and if painted or not.

In dark colors the contrast with the metal must be striking.
