So a new flagship speaker then, the sub section looks deeper than the XLF. Do not see how the XLF continues to exist between Alexx and this.

On the one hand the speakers on either side of the XLF will be newer, more refined designs, with finer grained time alignment. on the other hand, I think we'll want to see the price of the XVX. If it is+$300k then that's that's a +$200k gap between top model and the Alexx, while the XLF is circa $200k. If XVX is ~$250k then maybe it does replace the XLF. Wilson tends to build more toward a performance level than a price point. If the XVX is near to the Wamm - but not its equal, too soon for that - there is enough of a gap between XVX and Alexx for another speaker (iirc Alexx development is prior to Wamm), which begs the question how long until XLF is replaced after XVX release? I'm confident Wilson knows that answer already. :->
But doesn’t the XLF still have the problem that most people would prefer an Alexx plus Subsonics for approximately the same price as the XLF by itself?
When ever I heard the Alexx it was never short on bass and IMO no need for the Subsonics

That reads like there should be an if clause in that sentence somewhere. If it said do prefer then we'd be talking with sales numbers in our hands. Maybe you mean would prefer if they could afford it.
I'd be surprised that Wilson makes future lineup choices based on the likelihood of subwoofer purchases with a specific model.
If the XLF has a "problem", it's a 2011 birthdate in in late 2020.
Looks like an Alexx with an additional seven inch mid bass driver, and using just one of the Scanspeak Illuminaters from the WAMM for the mids....

The 7" lower mid drivers were the last design project Dave completed before his passing. This is the first time they have been used.
