I am 63 years old and teach math in high school here in GA. I am formerly (a has-been) a broadcast engineer mostly in radio. I did a 3 month stint at a UHF TV station outside Chicago right before Uncle Sam sent me off to Army basic and AIT and OCS at the Benning School for boys in '69.

I am more an audiophile now than an engineer, but I do enjoy amatuer recording for acquaintences and for the University of West GA located in a town next to me, I spent the last year working on providing them with HiRez recordings of the 20+ member Wind Ensemble concerts. Last year we did 2 concert recordings and I supplied them with redbook cds and 2496 pcmwav burned on DVD+r using Audio DVD Creator with excellent results. I use Sony SoundForge software and an Echo converter. My 2496 files will play on any DVD player with 2496 converters. No new hardware is required. HooRay!!!!!!

I still have much to learn, but I enjoy doing this for this great group of people/musicians that I do it gratis. I am amply rewarded by how well they play. I have a photo of the group on the gallery on the Stereophile website, if you are interested. I should have mentioned that the pic of the WGU Wind Ensemble is in the Stereophile Gallery under Live Music Events. I look forward to 2010/11 with this group.

I look forward to the education I am about to receive. I look forward to reading posts here.

Regards,

Jim
