Golden Gate DAC arrives.

BTW - I liked the blue display of my Big 7 better. ?ukasz argues however, that the orange display better matches the color of the copper case and glowing tubes. No blue displays for GG owners, even as an option :)

Beautiful looking piece of gear Adam, congratulations and (probably amongst the many) looking forward to your thoughts on the upgrade.

The only special option is a different volume control module, which comes with Apple TV remote. I just like it so much better than the plastic affair ?ukasz supplies with his DACs.

I also asked to have the PCM DAC removed - so it is a DSD only unit.

BTW - the 'ring' on the power button very closely matches the color of the display. On this image it looks much brighter, almost yellow. This is just a picture artefact.

I thought he said that GGs get a metal remote control…plastic was for Big7 and lower.

I would agree rather with Lukasz, it looks really good with orange display and button.
Congratulations Adam.

Maybe he does ... no idea. When I was buying the Big 7, I had an option of getting the plastic remote or the Apple one. Since I do not have the Apple TV, I went with Apple remote. It is an amaizing little thing.

Audiocrack told me so...

Not true. My balanced GG has blue colour display.

Did you get it yet?

It arrived while I was at work. Cracked it open at 2am and was up past 6am in musical heaven. OMG! Immediately better than the Big 7 and that was no slouch. I can not wait until I have more time on it. Lukasz says wait until I have 200 or more hours. Some say 400-500 and she's done breaking in. Stunning piece. More clarity, resolution, 3D, air and soundstage. Love it!

Amazing Joe. It will be hard not to go balanced GG when I finally dip my toe in the water.

Enjoy,
Ken

Congrats, Joe.

Thank you Ken, I have zero regrets. It's an instant upgrade.

Congrats, Joe.

Thank you Ian. I appreciate it.

Joe- OT, but how is the Vac Sigma treating you?

Keith, the VAC sigma 160i SE is simply outstanding. I bought it on a whim really. I liked my Vac preamp that I had many years ago but was never a really big fan of the Vac amps. Holy cow, this one is stunning. I did not have high expectations, but boy am I wrong. If you can deal with about 85 wpc, it is superb.

How does it compare to Lampizator 211 mono locks?
