I would not invite him here. We have managed to chase away a good number of well known industry icons (Sean Olive, Ted Welti, Art Noxon, Ethan Winer) for whatever set of reasons.

HP's unique writing style (lots of parenthetical statements) is the thing I most enjoy about him as a reviewer. That said, I don't take his opinion any more seriously than I do many other reviewers. It is, after all, just his opinion and while he has been a reviewer longer than most, that does not suggest to me that his opinion has any more insight than some others of TAS, Stereophile or those who post here. He is just much, much more fun to read.

I am REALLY looking forward to his new project.

And as for room treatment, he does have some little pillow thingies on the front wall/ceiling intersection

Bruce judging a room's acoustics by a picture is like playing fantasy football. :)

I've heard speakers in HP's small room (yes the IRS, no less) and they sounded terrific, if not a little like near field listening, headphones. And I've heard speakers in the big room such as the NOLAs and they sounded good too. One must also remember that these speakers like HPs present Scaenas use DSP that also help minimize any room issues.

So here is a scenario..... Let's say that room has a dip at 120Hz and a bump at 400Hz.... Speaker under review has a bump at 120Hz and a dip at 400Hz...... Speaker sounds awesome and gets a great review... right??

Now put that same speaker in an acoustically treated room and it sounds like crap..... Reviewer loses credibility..... Happens all the time.

They have speaker and equipment measurements. How about room measurements so the consumer can make a better decision.

Yes, and that is extremely sad. It hurts me deeply. ...I need a lot of extra courage myself sometimes.

Good stuff, I agree. :b ...So much music I bought because of Harry, and I can only thank him so much for it.

The more fixated, mandarin and doctrinaire the expert, the less likely to thrive on an open board forum, too many challenges to annoy the king.

I do enjoy reading all of the extensive work done by Ethan, it is incredibly informative, but I fall far short of dismissing out of hand the leanings of subjective audiophiles.

There are far too many people here who would "attack" HP if he posted here IMO. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Who needs another expert? We already have a steady supply of self-annointed ones!;)

Ouch!

If HP chooses to post we'd all welcome him no doubt, and I think in time he will as the site's reputation is growing.

You are not wrong. I'm pretty sure some or all of the other "experts" that left did so for that very reason. Disagreement is not the issue here. It is the manner in which the disagreement is stated and in most cases, not very nicely -- and yes, I have been guilty on occasion.

I can only recall how Michael Fremer was treated.
