I've always championed Michael Fremer. So I'm not sure what your point is. I hoped he would come here. Still do. He is a member. Politics aside.

In answer to your question: Yes, I did start the thread.

No point or politics and yes he joined certainly as a result of the thread. I have corresponded with him by email and he was travelling. He promised to try to participate upon his return

I hope he stays true to his word then, because I would personally look forward to it. Detractors aside, no one IMO has tried to champion the cause of vinyl as much as MF has and for that I am thankful.

That has made him both villain and hero.

I read the hpsurrounding tos. It would suggest a forum is in the offering. Stay tuned.

Objectivists who hate analog and in particular LPs attacked Fremer for his pro-analog beliefs. It was all very predictable. HP wouldn’t be any different with regards to people going after him for his beliefs. I doubt he needs the headaches.

So here is a scenario..... Let's say that room has a dip at 120Hz and a bump at 400Hz.... Speaker under review has a bump at 120Hz and a dip at 400Hz...... Speaker sounds awesome and gets a great review... right??

Now put that same speaker in an acoustically treated room and it sounds like crap..... Reviewer loses credibility..... Happens all the time.

They have speaker and equipment measurements. How about room measurements so the consumer can make a better decision.

This means that you have to take all speaker reviews with many, many grains of salt! Most people expect that a review can be a kind of buyer guide. I have found that in this sense speaker reviews are the most useless reviews - the interaction with room and system is dominant and no words can describe meaningfully the differences between speakers. Curiously, I think that the differences between amplifiers are much easier to explain. All IMHO.

Bruce, how would you describe the differences between your Evolution Acoustics MM3 and the Alexandria X2?

And if you can't handle the heat, don't stand in my 'jittery' kitchen. :D

If HP was going to join a forum to reach hiend audiophiles, why would he join WBF with only 3215 members, when he could join a forum like AudioAficionado which currently has 79,828 members?

-- AVS Forum?

There are a zillion of audio forums on the Internet.

* Numbers mean nothing, atmosphere is what it's all about; cozy, comfy, super friendly, fun, and all that jazz. :b

I'm with Bob here. Myles and a host of others are here, and there. I don't think anyone will drive them out. :)

Bob,

At this stage in HP's new website, I'm sure he and website managers are looking for hits.

More hits=more ads=more revenue.

Why waste time on a friendly forum with only 3215 members verses another friendly forum with 79K members?

Atmosphere doesn't pay the bills or attract advertisers and investors.

Well sometimes in publishing (and advertising), having a targeted audience that is "serious" is more important than "gross" count. After all, what good is 100K on a list when only 1000 are serious vs. another list that has 5000 and 4000 are serious and will result in more sell through.

That by the way, was one of the cornerstones of my old magazine and it did work.

OMG! Did you get a look at the infamous Music Room 3?
I was a subscriber of TAS since day one and all I wondered about were these great HP music rooms at Sea Cliff. The systems, the setups, the recommended music, the fire, the upgrades.
What a disappointment
What a dump....

Of all the ways to ruin a prefectly fine room, turning into an electronic junkyard works as well as any other. At least if it's destroyed by a hurricaine you get some help restoring it from your insurance company or FEMA but who is going to help you with this kind of mess? These audio rooms remind me of Sanford and Son. ;)

They are old school. They want subscriptions.

They got my free subscription for all the good it will do them. There isn't a snowball's chance in hell that I'll ever buy anything they advertise even used. Making money on the internet? If anyone has a working business model who is it, Amazon? Certainly not Facebook.

---- Who builds the clientele, who attracts the advertisers, who propagates the smart messages, who tells the truth?

The ones who invest intelligent time and research, people like us, that's who.
