I saw an auction on AudiogoN that got me thinking - what about you?

Out back were huge towers and I was getting this AM hate jock coming through my speakers when nothing was on.
This of course is an easy one: the interference is completely blatant, and the source is obvious. What happens when the level of interference is not 70dB, say, in terms of audibility, but a level of, say, 40dB? Everything sounds "normal", there is nothing really wrong, but the system has an unpleasant, twitchy edge about its sound, that makes you uncomfortable. That's where these "magical" tweaks come in, and have an influence, because they do do enough in some subtle area of behaviour of the system to mitigate or alter the quality or quantity of murk being injected into the sound. This is where the real research needs to be done, to properly sort this out once and for all, rather than either pooh pooh anything that smells this way, or throw money at every new gizmo put out.

Roger (RogerD) is a very nice guy indeed,
and I'm glad Angela that you told us that small anecdotal evidence.

P.S. Frank, are you getting your wood cut for this Winter season, back in Aussie country?

Well, we're just finished our cold spell, so a good 6 months to go before another round: not quite sure whether we'll still be in our current abode next year, so hanging loose about such things at the moment. Even the lawn's not getting its fair share of attention, this audio nonsense can get a bit addictive at times ...

Bob, you've gotta stop confusing people, it's even confusing me!!

I'm sorry Frank; I didn't realise that you just finished your Winter season!

But it don't truly matter because here I'm starting one, and I don't use wood myself for heat, but my friend does, and I'm helping him.

Yep, it wasn't in my youth, but the "infection" spread over here some dozen years ago, pumpkins and all, a friend got 60 bucks worth of goodies for the young'uns that couple of nights ago!!
