Lampizator announcement: launch of our all new TOTL HORIZON DAC

What is it with this whole nipple painting thang?

I hear various stories...

Yellow nipples screw me up, though.

They are usually red on valves and in humans?

What can it possibly mean and why is only one of them painted thus?

Curious, and possibly meaningless. But does anyone have a story?
I thought I posted. He has many sets of 6900 but I specifically requested a matched quad set This was the only crying treated tube that became part of the set. He told me it can be easily removed and does not affect performance

Yes, that confused me too and Yoda straightened me out. The thing is that 6900 can be used in both, but for very different purposes.
Exactly ;)

Dunno...actually I think Goran is better to answer that as I THINK they are the same as we mix English and Cyrillic characters. H and N are the "same " in Cyrillic and English or at least written the same.
Letter H in Cyrillic is N in Latin while C in Cyrillic is S in Latin. Sellers often mix Cyrillic and Latin letters so it gets confusing. 6H30?? is 6N30DR for example or 6H8C is 6n8s
????? ? ?????? ???????? ???????? ?? ???????? ??????? :p can't find some letters on the standard keyboard :)

Concerning the Aesthetics: the fit and finish of this DAC is of aerospace level. All parts of thew chassis are milled from slabs of 1 inch aluminium, routed, drilled, polished and powdercoated. The housing look and feel is to me simply scary. it is like Lenin's tumb. The weight of 70 lbs is the maximum allowed in commercial shipments by air. And we wanted to avoid the palette.
We made our preliminary pre-production pictures with the generic black powder to play down the aesathetics and focus on the internal merit.
After the commercial release we will have the following free choice options:
Black Hole - black mat
Stardust Silver
Teflon Sahara Night (charcoal)
Duracell (with copper top)
BRG (British Racing Green)
Translucent Soul Red
And as paid options - 7000 of RAL colors
The tube ventillation plate on the top will come: in real Copper, Titanium, Carbon, Alu and Inox.
Compared to our previous DACS this one makes a jaw dropping first impression.
Photos would help with choosing the finish and ventilation plate for my Horizon. I realize this isn't on the critical path for production, but would be appreciated.

... and the Melz tubes need adapters.
I think we clarified by PM that the Melz 1578 does not need adapters.

BTW, two other 6SN7's that enjoy "holy grail" status are the Tung-sol 6SN7GT black plates (>$500 pair if you can find a NOS matched pair) and the RCA red base JAN 5962 (~300/pair- easier to find). (The 5692 is the ruggedized, low microphonics, low noise, high reliability, long-life version of the 6SN7GT). Some say it's the best sounding 6SN7, but again, the way these tubes are used in the Horizon, who the hell knows? Should be fun to play with.

Yes indeed, that was my error. I am not that familiar with the Melz.

The Tung Sol BGRPs are truly great. I have never been impressed with the 5692 Red Base. I have used them in several different ways and have already thought they sounded just ok.

However, every tube sounds differently in every application so I will certainly give them a try as well.

Here is some of my TS 6SN7 stash and a a 6SN7WGT which is a great tube and not very expensive.

the best of 6sn7 are singles not dual and will require an adaptor to use them
it would take two tubes per
the tubes are mostly cheap due to no one designig for them
OMA uses these last i seen on his website

Does anyone know the distance from the outside of the footers left to right and front to back? I need to figure out the footprint size to see if this is going to fit on my HRS platform.

Dimensions without tubes: 440 mm W x 500 mm D x 160 mm H

I bought a matched NIB quad set of KT-170 so my tube selection is done until Lukasz arrives
6900 x 2/ 6N1P-EB x 2

Tung Sol KT 170 x 4

Shuguang gz480/ RK-KR 5u4g
that's 17.3 x 19.6 inches and the feet should be inside those measurements.

If your Pacific fits on. your HRS then the Horizon should as well. I measured the distance from the outer edges of the stock feet side to side and
from to back

side to side is 13.5"

front to back is 16.75"

I see no reason why you should have an issue

Thanks Steve. That works.
