Lampizator announcement: launch of our all new TOTL HORIZON DAC

More to come today Howie

There were at least 18 yesterday and a smaller crowd today because of the game

It was a real treat for everyone having Lukasz discuss what went into the Horizon as well as the 3 years of intensive R and D before it was brought to market

Lukasz also taught us quick lessons about tube rolling along with intense and complete detail about each tube used. It was very educational

I will have more to say about tube sets and my preferred selection tomorrow but until then we heard some very pleasant tubes yesterday and will today as well
Just teasing. We all wish we could have witnessed this event.:)
Ron

Did a very nice interview with Lukasz that will go up on our video channel and yesterday Ron got another video of Lukasz presentation as well as some video from my sound room which will also go up on our video page

may i ask what recti ? gz480 ?
we used the KR 5u4g and the Shuguang gz 480. The gz 480 I have used for about a year on my Pacific and I loved it. In fact it was much better than the KR 5u4g however the GZ 480minhte Horizon was a dud, and somewhat flat anflifeless. We asked Lukasz about this and the answer was simple.....two different circuits. What's good for the goose isn't always good for the gander. Today we have
274B EML
Genalex Red Lion Special Edition KT77

None of us were impressed with the TungSol KT 170 BUT Lukasz said not to give up on the KT170 as he likes it a lot and emphasized we were using a brand new set of tubes and he feels it will change once the tubes are broken in it should be a different story

For what its worth, Topaz is not a good isolation transformer. If you want a real isolation transformer, you need a tripple insulated k13 from Controlled power at a minimum. Those medical Triplite are also junk. I have put scopes on both and distortion can be higher on the output than input. I have listened to both and they are not going to fix toroid core saturation hum. Speaket hum is a totally different conversation. Were talking the transformer itself, correct. An Isotek syncro will knock about 85% to 90% of transformer hum down too.
A well built power supply/transformer should have very little hum from normal levels of leaked DC that get on the AC. If you actually have high levels then the filters I mentioned above should help a lot. Get rid of any slide dimmer in your house. Replace every one with a Lutron Maestro 600 to 1000 watt dimmer.

I would be surprised if a regenerator of say a Purepower 1050 quality would not also clean up transformer hum.

If your using filters of that quality and getting noise????????

You should also put a true RMS meter in your power socket and in the end of the power cord when plugged in and test microvolts. Between neutral and ground you should have 5 microvolts or less. Better to have 0. If you have over 35 you may have issues with your wiring, not the utility.

Sorry to drop that here. Bad placement.
i just want a clarification of how loud from where lol . dc offset matters on higher wattage trannies . less then 500 its pretty impossible to hear . it has to do with the size of the wires more resistance dulls the dc offset effect . but i feel he just wants to be negative period . not the time and place period .

this is why we need boxes of tubes to try , do you have a franky recti , its a usa airfoce 596 needs an adaptor . very low noise floor but on some dacs looses air for a trade of intimacy staging . thanks for the reply steve

Steve,

Thank you very much for having my family and I over for the day. I left so impressed with your music setup and with newfound goals for my own! Your wife, Cathy was extremely kind and so supportive of the hobby. Well worth the 2 hour drive out from LA.

Hope we can make meetings like these a more regular thing, it was nice meeting the other WBF members and talking in-person for once.

Ron

Any more listening impressions?

How about a Pacific to Horizon synopsis. Is there a reason to trade up?

Agreed. The silence on what people are hearing is deafening. Do everyone there swear a pact to hold us in suspense?

Maybe there were more lawyers than audiophiles at the meet?

Good things come to those who wait ;)
Or maybe why would they bother with mortals  :D:D

Seems to me there is more Hollywood stars then lawyers - life is good
Yeah, too busy having fun to worry about reporting, which is work. Plenty of time for that in the morn...
