These red base shuguangs were available normally about 2 years ago, then disappeared and never came back. I still prefer blue balls psvane by a small margin.

I don’t know the red one. I have these:

Looked like this if i remember correctly

I have made approx. 6000 shipments, half DHL half UPS and nothing ever was stolen or lost, twice the packake was kicked around but thats a low percentage. I think very highly about both these companies. I may add maybe 5 000 purchased items from ebay - also always correct.

You're lucky, Lukasz, FedEx did damage needing repair to one amp pack in each of two shipments of ATC speakers last year, and broke apart a PS Audio dac a few years ago. Before that, they were perfect and UPS was the problem carrier for me. DHL has always come through well.

Btw, an Enjoy the Music reviewer was blown away by the Lampi/etc. room and the Horizon in particular: "Most exciting digital introduction: No mysteries here, friends. LampizatOr North America's launch of the new Horizon single-box reference DAC ($50k, paired with the firm's $8,170 Gulfstream server) may be a game changer. Vivid and colorful, with class-defining transparency, the Horizon is one to watch." https://www.enjoythemusic.com/Florida_Audio_Expo_2022/Jeffries/part2/page2.htm

The queue may get longer quickly...

My order this week came in as number 50. To be delivered in September, probably. Thank god the Pacific isn´t so bad either!

The horizon is really messing with my sleeping pattern . I never sleep past 4-5 am
since I got the Horizon 9-10 because I'm so late listening, at times I don't even pick the music just listen to what Roon plays it all sounds good . After a couple weeks the Horizon got much better . Again for anyone on the fence abouting buying Horizon it's well worth it .

Can the Horizon Vol Control be used in conjunction with a pre amp's vol control (as I used to do with the Pacific) or must the Horizon vol control be completely bypassed at 0db (#63 on nixies).

My thought being that if so, one could fine tune the DAC's gain and pre's vol control to find the sweet spot.

IIRC the manual states that if you use a preamp it is advised that the full signal be used which mean "63". Thats where I keep mine

Still you can use it as used with Pacific

The vol ctrl is of the highest calibre and for sure it can be used to dial in the desired output. Too high signal will saturate the preamp and result in hardened sound. DEFINITELY use vol ctrl

Do not confuse level control with volume control.
