So has anyone tried the best NOS RCA, Sylvania or Tungsol 6SN7s in their Horizon?
Thompson 5687 bested them for meThanks Steve, and I have assembled the same tube complement (imitation is the greatest form of flattery you know), or at least will have by Tuesday when the Tak 274B arrives. But, the top NOS 6SN7s seem to have a lot of fans out there using them in other applications, and I am definitely curious about how they sound in the Horizon. Besides, I have read this thread front to back and need additional distraction from putting the final touches on my tax return
Seems to me that David's pinout show the 6N1P is in fact the same as the 6922 and 6DJ8. What am I missing?Well, I believed you right up to the point where I saw a picture posted that, on its face, appeared to contradict what you said ;-)
Marty, the picture to which I was referring is post #34 of this thread by Golum. which features a 6N1P tube in a convert socket labeled as 5687 > 6SN7, implying, syllogistically, that a convert tube socket meant for 6N1P > 6SN7 could thus also be used to adapt a 5687 to 6SN7. That picture appeared, therefore, to contradict information that David had provided me in a PM exchange, which was that you needed a different adapter.Seems to me that David's pinout show the 6N1P is in fact the same as the 6922 and 6DJ8. What am I missing?
