Those particular ones look familiar;). Congrats! Best tube buy you could do

I dunno Goran still needs to beat AD1n in my book. It may do but I'll have to wait and see.

Re the Marconi Osram PX25s. I am actually not expecting them to beat either Tesla. But we'll see.

Great if you like them! Which recti currently? I love ACME and is my day to day recti...WE274b is better but price delta is just crazy...same goes for Takatsuki which might be even tad better then WE274b.
Can't remember the value for fuse...will dig it out somewhere or ping @Lee Henley - he knows ;)

The HFT Supreme Fuse which I use and a good many of my friends in the UK is 3.15 A Slow Blow

The SR Orange is $159 in the States. SR had a 3-for-2 special around Xmas, so kickstarted things in a way I could break even if they didn't work. Then I've picked up a couple more with a WTB ad (am still looking for a couple of 10-12.5A for subs). They have specials regularly, so that may come around again later in the year (watch the Cable Co). I found they really kicked in about 250-300 (continuously powered) hours, like it wasn't bad but then all of a sudden the sound leaped. I started years ago with the HiFi Tuning Supreme fuses and they were fine, but then found with some experimentation that there were better (and more expensive) ones out there. This and the rest of my answer is posted in the Fuses thread:
https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/audiophile-fuses.453/page-43#post-633134

(update: I've now also posted on the fuse thread about my bad experience with an Audio Magic Ultimate Premier beeswax fuse).

Back to tube rolling.... For the regulator pair in the Supratek Chardonnay I just ordered a pair of Tung-Sol 7581A to replace the stock 6N3C (actually 6PS3, as I read that 'N' is Cryllic for P). It's often said the regulators don't affect the sound much, but I found with the PrimaLuna that the contribution was noticeable. And I expect the loser of my KR RK 5U4G Anniv Ed. vs. Psvane WE274B replica war in the TRP will go in the preamp's PSU.
Thank you for the extensive answer and the Link

Definitely interested in this comparison.

Some interesting Tesla notes from someone who knows a lot more than I.

"yes, people like the mil.-marked tubes (I also note this in my auctions,
but never claim these are any better, only that they passed the mil.
selection). But this usually only means military combed through what the
tube makers sent them to weed out the duds, sometimes this was done
directly by TESLA. Not always, but most of the time, yes.

But some tubes were not sold to public for general use, for example the
TESLA RD25/27 were strictly industrial-grade, and used in transmitters
and/or special large AF amplifiers (the maker, TESLA Vrsovice branch,
made mostly transmitter and high-power tubes, and initially, they
started as part of the British Marconi Company before the
nationalization! Hence the PX25 variants in their program...)"

Take this as superceeding anything I have said, which had been derived from the claims of some eBay sellers.

I didn't say that, so did Christoph, wisnon, Goran, etc say this?

Last week I purchased Marty’s RK KR Audio PX25s. I had the “regular” ones before but didn’t really like them.

Well, I really like these. They don’t sound digital like I felt the others did. I also really like the bass extension with these.

I have been using the Acme 274B rectifier. I am not going to try the 596 and the Tak 274B.

No. Here's a bit more:

"
TESLA did not build different versions for the military, they tested
regular versions, and if found OK, they gave them mil. insignia
sometimes with date codes and kept them stock until needed or released
them when no longer needed or renewing stock. I once talked to someone
who, when in mandatory military service, worked in one of the stations
that did the testing; and a good friend of mine worked in 1980s in TESLA
quality control (mostly transistors and ICs at that time) and told me
they sometimes did the "crossed swords" stamping etc. for the military
directly, no special tests were made.

For some very special industrial purposes, they (everyone, not only here
but Germany etc.) also tested tubes for example for balanced sections,
noise or microphony, for example for medial instruments like EKG
machines, but the tubes received additional markings after such tests,
military rarely did this.

TESLA made AD1n in several flavors depending on when they made them,
e.g. 1949 tubes are not yet designated "AD1n", just AD1, later 1950s
"AD1n" tubes had some small construction differences, but nothing major.
This is why it is important to also match the tubes for approx. the same
generation/construction...'

That basically tells you the answer loosely. I dunno if he wants to be identified, but he does seem to know what he is talking about.

They will get it eventually Goran. They are slow and innocent. But the infinite superiority of the mighty death star simply cannot be withheld or concealed. The sheer brilliance is hard to contain.

Why stoop so low as a KR? Don't put yourself through the pain.

LOL.

Nice one. I’m using the same valves on my Lampi Pacific.

If digital was my main source I would own a Pacific as I have already been making my way up the Lampi line. I really do like my Big 7 MKII but I realize it can't do what the Pacific does.

Let's see what happens when you put the 242 in to the same preamp that Jazzhead uses with his 242. He has PX25 too

I’m sure it is fantastic Anyway. Plenty of time to consider the Pacific.
