Lampizator Valve / Tube Rolling Review Thread

@Golum knows a guy and can share his contacts with you, or I can myself via PM. He has a very particular set of skills...

Edit to say: I use a Golden Gate 2

I’ve posted a KR 5U4G RK Anniversary with about 400 hours on it for sale (States). PM for further info or check Audiomart (or via hifi shark).

dang. You are making me take out my wallet. Adam which lampi do you have and your source of AD1n?
You'll need adapters as well ;)

I bought a pair of Tesla RD27AS from Croatia a month ago. I don’t expect to see them for another 2 months.

This combination is something special:

Not etched base, but good enough for me. It's an adapter world I guess.

Adam how is the gain wise? All ok?

Gain is perfect from what I'm hearing so far. I just went back in the thread and read where you said it need to be on the 101D setting. I've had it on the 300B setting so far so that's something to look forward to.

Fantastic - really really glad it works as expected

Anyone have an idea what the typical life expectancy (hours) of the KR 5U4G RK is? I've been told by a GG owner who was interested in buying the tube cheap that it's very short, like 1,000 hours. Seems hard to believe. Any truth to it?

Follow up: Lukasz says 6-10 years and there haven’t been any reports of failure yet. Maybe the GG owner dropped a zero from 10k.

It's 4V 2A. It needs to be on whatever you use for PX25 in a Pac. Or RD for that matter.

101D is 4V 1A. So right voltage half the current. I wonder what that Lucasz circuit is really doing here.

I really think he should blinking publish how it works in detail. Like the 6 position table I have for my DAC that I published earlier on this thread. I know exactly what it does.

I have to assume 101D is right and somehow it will supply the right current. But wouldn't it be nice to KNOW that?

Anyway congrats it's truly an excellent tube in my book. I much prefer it to RD27AS, though I like the RD because it is just plain wacky and looks awesome! Also Goran loves it in his Pac so I suspect it really likes Pacs.

Just looked at the heater selection switch on the Pac.

PX4 and 101D are both 4V 1A. So what's the difference? Confused. Very confused.

Done

Post the installation of the six position switch in my Lampi massively modded Big 7 there's one thing I have noticed.

Every single valve I install in the DAC looks like the filaments are correctly lit.

Which just proves the two position switch fails to hit the correct heater settings for a few valves. No big surprise really.

What the two position switch relies on is the fact that even with valves that aren't driven optimally, you will at least get an output you can listen to.

Hi all.
Someone of you guyz have a pair of ad 1 n to px 25 adaptors you don't need??
Kindly/Ingemar
I. why would you need ad1 to PX25? You want ad1 to UX4 adapter ;)

Yeah - just remembered - didn't see with our Chinese friends that they have ad1 to PX25...but you're set for NOS PX25 or RD27 :D:cool:
