M12 Gold Switch

JCAT is now the official distributor of M12 switches also in United States:

thank you @Musiclvr

I wish to be able to sell the m12 switch main unit separately. It is not my idée fixe to force the sales of the m12 switch with the cables. Japan Telegaertner Limited has this policy and my price for the set with cables is the same as the main unit alone.

I am in touch with Mr. Iwamoto now, the CEO of Japan Telegaertner Limited, and have brought this matter to his attention again.

I will keep you posted.

Best regards,
Marcin Ostapowicz
JPLAY & JCAT Founder

Marcin, I am not happy with what has been going on recently. It has been 3 weeks or more since I made a payment for the optimo 3 duo power supply as well as the M12X gold cable. It is very difficult to get a hold of you over the phone and you do not respond to email queries in a timely fashion either. I am writing this message to you because I have tried calling you several times today and have not received a response to my email either. I think it is only fair that you respond to you customers who pay you good money for the products in a timely fashion. Whenever I get a hold of you, the response that I get is "I am not sure when it will be manufactured and ready for shipment." That is not a satisfactory and appropriate response. I am unhappy with this and if it continues then this is the last time I am going to be doing business with you.

Marcin being a distributor should have stock of the switches, wire, and power supplies. I think ordering from Japan for onesies and twosies when he gets an order is ridiculous. In this case I think another distributor should take over.

My Optimo took about 3 weeks to ship despite being shown as "in stock" on the website at the time I placed my order. I typically waited 2-3 days for email responses. I empathize with your situation, but know that it all worked out in the end.

Salman, I informed you that your power supply will ship this week. I gave you my private phone number. It is not a support hotline. if you are not happy, please send an email and I’ll make you a refund.

the switches are in stock with cables and power supplies.

The lead time is for Optimo 3 duo which every unit is customized and different transformer is required depending the AC mains voltage, dc output voltages and connectors. 3-4 weeks is not long for a bespoke build, but perhaps there are manufacturers that can deliver faster.

Marcin

Marcin, I still have the email that you sent me. Your email said that it will be "made this week", you did not use the word shipped. I then followed up with another email asking you when the cable will be shipped and I got no response to that. I know this is not a support hotline and I am not looking for support, I am looking for follow-up on a sale. My clients have my private phone number too, and being in the customer service profession, it is answered 24/7. if you are in this business than you have to make yourself available.

As for the refund, I am not wanting that because I have waited over 3 weeks for this order and I do not have it in me to wait another 3 weeks from another supplier. Please ship it out at your earliest convenience and we can then we can call it a day. I appreciate your timely attention to this matter

Please await an email with a tracking number

Congrats, Marcin, I am not surprised to read the reviewer's conclusions. As I still haven't connected my Optimo3 to my M12 Gold this review has definitely upped by sense of anticipation!

If there are M12 Switch Gold users who would like to power it with their UpTone JS-2 choke-filtered, dual-output, 5~7.4A linear power supply, we now have stock of custom-made DC cables to do so.

Made with Neotech 7N wire, JSSG shielding, Phoenix Contact M12 at one end and Oyaide 5.5mm x 2.5mm at the other. 1.5 meters long. $250 plus shipping. Sorry, we are offering this only to current or new JS-2 owners. Inquire only via the Contact Us form on our web site.

Thanks,
--Alex C.

@Marcin_gps can LPS1 (7v-1.1A) power M12 Gold switch?

Also @Superdad if you have M12 can you confirm this?

Well first off, the highest output voltage of our original UltraCap LPS-1 was 7V, and the M12 calls for 12V.
And while the new generation paralleled LT3045 UltraCap LPS-1.2 has a 12V output setting (it offers 5/7/9/12V user selectable), like the original its upper current limit is 1.1A.
I have never directly measured the DC draw of the Telegartner M12 Switch Gold, so can not say if it too great for an UltraCap LPS-1.2.
[The JS-2 can produce 7.4A at 12V (given a 120V or 240V AC line, a bit less with 100V Japan, or 220V and 230V counties.)]

And by the way, the cable above that we are offering has 5.5mm x 2.5mm plug at PS end--to match the heavy-duty jacks of the JS-2. Our UltraCap supples have 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC jacks.

Best,

I'm thinking of buying the M12 Gold Switch, along with some LPS. I have a question, what is the power connector of the M12 and Optimo 3 Duo? What type of power cable is used to connect them?

We provide a custom cable at no additional cost. Please see the attached picture below. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

So, I should only specify the inclusion of the cable at the time of purchase. Seeing here, it is a cable with m12 / neutrik speakon connectors. I will look for more information from users and reviews about the product, but from what I saw it would be a good option, the m12 switch along with the Optimo Lps

Correct - please specify Voltage & connectors in the purchase note. Each output can be made with a different Voltage and different connector type/size at no additional cost.

Reviving this thread a bit.

I listen to about 98% of my music streamed through Tidal/Qobuz using Roon. My current network is a SOTM switch feeding optically an EtherRegen, both clocked with a Mutec Ref 10 and powered via good linear power supplies. I'm using a mix of Sablon 2020, SOTM and Shunyata Alpha clock cables and ethernet cables between all devices. From the EtherRegen I'm running ethernet to my Antipodes CX, then ethernet to my Antipodes EX, then ethernet to my Rossini DAC/Rossini clock. I tested a few different inputs into the Rossini, and I feel like a direct ethernet feed (with a good cable) to sound the best and also offer the best features within the Rossini. Given this recent setup, I'm really NOT using the EX in the middle to do anything other than serve as an ethernet pass-through, so I may remove it from the chain and see how it sounds (I had previously been using HQPlayer on the EX and feeding the dac via USB/regen, but feel like the direct ethernet feed is at least as good for me SQ-wise, and doesn't need the EX to be the Roon endpoint either now).

I'm working on an M12 demo in the near future. I am VERY, VERY happy with the sound currently, so my interest in demoing the M12 is merely to see if it could increase things even further. I am considering getting a second SOTM switch to stack as an alternative to the M12, but likely won't have them side-by-side to do a direct comparison.

In prep for my M12 demo, my questions to this group is for the folks that compared this solution to the SOTM/SOTM stacked/SOTM-EtherRegen options:

  • Did folks get to compare to the SOTM switch(es) and/or EtherRegen switch clocked with something like the Mutec Ref10 or equiv, or were the comparisons using the on-board clock signals of those devices?
  • Has anyone compared direct server-to-DAC via ethernet vs. running the signal back through the M12 (as more of a "star" config), and what were the comparative results and preferences?
I tried to read this entire thread last night and if I missed results that matched my questions, sincere apologies. Thanks in advance!

Oh sorry, and a third question:

  • For those with existing switches (like the SOTM, EtherRegen, etc.), were you able to find stacked configs with them and the M12 that improved things, or did you prefer the sound without those additional switches in the chain?
