McIntosh MA8000 - Newest Member of My Family

Outstanding bit of kit! Well done looks like sublime sound from my back yard! :)
Can't quite make out the turntable, what is the set up?

The TT is E.A.T. E-Flat. The cartridge is a Soundsmith Paua Mk.II

Well, the Mac has been in and out of the shop a couple of times. They got it back up and running without too much trouble, but as it turns out the digital audio board is done. It's funny, because all of the digital inputs work just fine except the USB audio input. Wouldn't you know, just the one that I actually want to use.

New board is $835 installed, so I hope to have it ordered in the next few days.

I'll be moving on in the speaker world too. The Magnepan's are up for sale since I have a pair of Canton Reference 1's on order.
Hi Fred, I am facing same troubles with my MA8000. Suddenly won't turn on. Already 3x under reapair, they always just reinstalled the firmware. Had to pay 100 USD in our currency. They have no idea, what causes this, probably static electricity, what really is a problem in my apartment in winter, humidity just about 25%, but it should be 45-60% First time it started after 1,5 year of use, then after a year and last time after 4 months. There was a glitch yesterday for a first time, but I could bring it to operation by pressing of the Mc Button on the remote. In the past I had to remove the power cable for a while and it helped too. But one day, nothing helped anymore and I had to see the Mc doctor. I was told too, that the replacement of the digital board might help, but they call it "preventive replacement", not a regular repair... I should pay about 1100 USD for that... I added a noise filter, a DC filter and I unplug the amplifier after every listening and inserted new alkaline baterries in the remote. I will start my humidifier soon too, to maintain the humidity level about 45-60% to avoid those static electricity hits...
