Monoblock Amps for Magico S5 MKII

You should PM "BlueFox" on this site...

Tell him that you are on a journey to Nirvana. Ask him about his S5 MK II¨s

You are welcome...

He has Pass Labs 600.5 amps..

Now, what I would choose is a different amplifier...

Bladelius Ymer III Monoblocks A/B 800w...
8.8KVA PSU and utterly stable at 0.1 OHMS...
2x200 Amps capacity and death defying dynamics...
Price? about 30k Dollarsis +++

now "Madrigal" "Voecks" has of course the newer ML 536 mono amps
I suggest you add them to your list... I suspect they are ideal partners...
after all.

So the Studio II must be one of the most loved loudspeakers around... reviewer wyze in the industry. they mate with just about anything and is a sort of benign load that really let any amp powerfull enough shine..,,.
A gem...
Thank you so much. Never heard of Bladelius, I'll check them too.

Yes! Mark Levinson 536 monoblocks should be in the list. They have the watts, current for low impedances. What's their sound signature though? I wonder why we don't see many members using them.

I think you should seriously consider the Boulder 1151 Mono Amps, which by all reports have great sound and should match up well with your Magico speakers.

Symphonic Line Rg4Mk5 monoblocks, Kraft 250, or any stereo Piliums will do wonders with any Magico speakers, with the SE tube liquidity, as much as it possible with the solid state tech. Better in my experience and to my ears than any amps listed above. Both brands have been used as the reference at the Magico factory as far as I know. I ve heard quite a few Magicos (usually not my fav speaker brand) over the years and they sounded superbly even to me, when used with brands and models I ve noted.

Or maybe CH Precision or Gryphon Power Amps (ideally also matched with their Pre-Amps) ?

Thanks. Boulder 1100 series amplifiers are departure from their traditional Class A amplifiers, which I don't mind. I don't see any reviews for 1151 online; do you have personal experience with 1100 series amplifiers?

Thanks. This is the first time I am hearing about the Symphonic Line brand name; handmade in Germany. Where did you audition the amplifier in USA?

I have not yet heard the new Boulder 1100 amps myself, but I have spoken with Kenzo (Sp?) at Boulder about them and he told me that Boulder was so impressed with them and what they had discovered in creating them that they decided to discontinue the 1160 and replace it with the 1162 years ahead of when they had originally planned to discontinue the 1160. Kenzo has always been a straight shooter with me, so I assume that he is reporting accurately that these new amps sound great. I will be looking to listen to the new Boulder amps at Axpona starting tomorrow, Friday the 11th, as I understand that Boulder will be playing them at Axpona. Boulder has also shown the 1151's at some other recent shows and the reports I have seen have all been favorable. But the pair of 1151 amps are not cheap.

Its a boutique brand, been around since early 80s, with somewhat audio "cult-ish" following among those who have dared to check it out, haha. I have bought mine from Klaus Bunge, the importer, he has been a very well know figure in the high end circles since forever. German Acoustics is the name of his company near Indianapolis. He exhibits at major shows, I'm sure will be at the Axpona, he is a gentleman, and quite a knowledgeable character.

Yes and the Kraft 300 monos 40th anniversary edition is said to be their best
amps so far, they do show up ever so often for sale... used...
This is the stuff of legends... for sure...
This set like liquidity you asked for @analog2analog is present in spades and almost at the level of the famed but hyper rare Electrocompaniet Enigma amp level... (they made 4 or thereabouts..)

A very good candidate...
