This isn't a discussion, it is a one sided religious rant.

Can you view it other way? 95% of the posts on this thread are politics (and now also religious, it seems).

Currently the decision on whether a fact should be considered relevant or not is essentially political, as well as how we should face the issue - the important debate, IMHO.

If someone invented a cheap and accessible clean form of energy today the debate would cease tomorrow.

IMHO the only possibility of saving the planet is wining the battle in the global political arena.
The governments of the planet are going to need to grow up as part of an overall social redevelopment. We need people in power (and in the end because we all consume we are all in power in some way) who put ecological survival as the priority and so put the changes needed to protect ecology and so then protect our species into play.

The idea of abundant affordable clean energy is good unless of course it just then drives consumption.

Separate to this but also enmeshed in this carbon concentration in the atmosphere issue resource depletion is one of the other extraordinary challenges for us. We are in resource debt to the tune of 145 per cent global biocapacity usage so considerably overusing what the planet can actually produce.

Consumption is the fundamental issue that is driving greenhouse gas emissions which drives climate change. Given the atmospheric lifecycle of the various greenhouse gasses of the current 400 ppm+ of CO2 we need to become carbon negative and not just carbon neutral so we can harvest enough CO2 to get below more long term survivable 300 ppm concentrations. So either way we are looking at probably several generations of our species living in the overshoot region of high CO2 concentrations and 1.5 deg C+ from 2050 on till we can get CO2 into manageable levels.

At this point most of the governments that signed on in Paris are not on target to get their emissions levels on track for holding at the 1.5 deg C by 2050... so that is where the need to use all our efforts to individually get consumption down in a survivable way (that is the hard part) and also ensure all our governments work together towards this. That is definitely where politics will play as part of social change to allow environmental survival and therefore also potentially social survival.

What are you saying? Genocide for all who commit crimes?

I never said anything about wiping out ethnic groups. You are being overly dramatic again. I said wipe out people committing violent crimes. It's called capital punishment.

Besides the whole judgement thing, the issue is it actually costs a lot more than lifetime incarceration.

I'd rather die than be in a supermax prison, tbh...

The problem is, whether inside jail or running free, it's another ICE polluting our planet and using up resources. At some point the world's population will need to be controlled. Instead of eliminating productive citizens I vote to eliminate the trouble makers. Again, common sense.

BTW, a bullet costs less than 50 cents.

Ethnic groups? Genocide is of any racial, political or cultural group.

genocide

NOUN
  1. the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation.

Try a collegiate dictionary.

Climate changes are scientific facts concerning the planet and its humanity (us).
It has zero to do with politics, religion, sex and guns (violence) and rock & roll and drugs.
...Less than zero. A cleaner planet means a cleaner music listening experience...excellent for ultra high-end audio, for audio gear reviewers and for audio dealers. ...What's Best Forum

If Audio becomes a religion that's the day audio die.
If Audio becomes a political business that's the die music stops.
If the survival of our humanity and its planet becomes under the control of politicians, drug lords and preachers from the four corners of Kathmandu it's the day we all lost.

Ultra high-end audio is about beautiful music reproduction in a clean environment for all.
And Music sounds much better inside an electric car/truck, than a noisy contaminated distorted dirty black smoke oil gas one.

@ home, the best music listening experience is from good climate environment of our R2R tapes and record vinyls. The audio gear...cables, amps, tubes, AC chords, fuses, platforms, tonearms (including linear tangential ones), DACs, music servers, Tidal subscriptions, hires audio files, loudspeakers, ... they all acclimate better in good synergy and synchronicity when the people and the air are healthy. And that, is a fact...a good physical and scientific fact.

I hate politics, I hate religions, I hate sexism, drugs, violence and guns.
I love music, I love audio porn, I love audio excesses, I love fast electric cars, cats, dogs, good living and good health for everyone...not just one small town from one small country in one small continent. This climate change issue is a universal one and it concerns everyone, not just the pope and some street gangs.

Al, after reading that article yesterday (zero police, zero politics) I knew I was in the right crowd.
DaveC is articulate and often brings a good balance on all subjects, including this one.
SteveN is as passionate as many of us, including I.

Sometimes we seem to have small conflits in communicating; but it's all an illusion because nobody is judging anyone...ever. That'll be the day ...

It's not the size of our plate, it's the health in it ... figure of speech to say that we all like healthy food.

Storage for load-leveling is a different thing than storage to take up the slack for renewables. Certainly timing is important for application and charging of batteries if you are load-leveling and using fossil fuel power.

Timing, information ... and this picture ...

I approve.

Humor: Just imagine if we were driving our high fidelity sound systems (spinning our records) using gas activated motors. If our hiend audio gear is alimented by electricity to reproduce our favorite medium musically electronically mechanically why not also our hiend travelling cars.
And following a big semi truck up a steep hill is much better for the smell and the lungs if it's an electric one. Plus the noise pollution, ... less stress less sickness less medications longer life's expectancy bigger smile health and music listening.

We are always better @ findings the negatives than the positives; this must be a natural human trait specifically attributable to the human species in a less than modern world with all the advanced technologies available @ our disposition.

We all know the real reasons why; we just can't admit it. There are things we don't want to change...it's just too much fun living the high life in a "hot" climate environment.

I know exactly how it feels to lost everything you worked your entire life for and all your memories...pictures and all.
So I can sympathise with the people who lost their homes to fires.
And that ban is indeed a welcome thing in today's climate change ...
