A rare tube equivalent to the 13D3. It has a gain of 30 mu, higher than the 12AU7's 20.Any insights into this orphan I found in my stash? Fortunately my Riviera headamp only uses a single 12au7 so I should give this one a whirl sometime.

"Brimar" was just a registered trademark, it was the abreviation for "british american made tubes". They put their logo on tubes from different manufacturers they purchased in great batches. You will have a hard time to find out, what tube manufacturer was behind each specific Brimar labeled electron tube.Do we have any experts on Brimar novals here? I’m trying to get some insights into how their different model ranges (regular v industrial 13dx v Trustworthy 60xx ) and generations compare sonically on the ‘at‘ and ‘au’ types.
Brimar did design and manufacturer their own tubes for many years in a couple of UK factories. Along with Mullard, Marconi, and others they formed a consortium to protect their UK interests."Brimar" was just a registered trademark, it was the abreviation for "british american made tubes". I know collecting is fun, but do you have any idea of the price for one square-getter these days? I think I paid $300 for a true NOS about 3 years ago (Vintage Tube Services).Mullard ECC83 Long plate square getterView attachment 100242
Yes, they've been at it for a few years now. I admire their ambition.I see there is an initiative to restart production of Brimar valves here in UK using original machinery
