I can only guess about 3000 or more, most of them are up to 90 % life and some NOS ,of course .
Good for you Adrian. It must have been a lifetime labor of love for you
 
Sounds like you are going to have an interesting week SA. I don't have much in the way of exotica in my collection, just a few well regarded tubes. Always interesting to hear how alternatives sound. I do also think it comes down to the combination - having the right, or wrong, combination can impact how well another tube performs / sounds down the line.
I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

A spare pair of Melz 1578 in their original packaging , this time with shiny nickel plates and no ‘1578’ markings. If anyone has some to sell, then drop me a PM / email.

1 of 2 1578 OTK, original package. Pristine looking pair. Haven't tried them, but the 2 other pairs I purchased had poorly soldered pins.
I don't trust them enough to sell.
