If Lakers win this series, I would have to think that the Vegas bookies will be rethinking their predictions. Watching the Suns close out the LAC last night told me they. can score a lot of points but their defense is too porous and I am still betting on Denver to win the WC but it sure is fun watching these games
The bookies never expected Westbrook to be shipped out in February. To me that is the turning point. Lakers got 3 or 4 guys who are now contributing after Westbrook left. Ironically, Ainge helped the Lakers take in Westbrook. I really don't know why.
Also noticed the prodigious points production of Butler, Trae Young, Booker, Fox and Curry in these playoffs. 35 to 52 points. Amazing but actually now quite normal as this is a shooting league, where 3s are as common as 2s and even encouraged by coaches. In the old days, Jordan and Bernard King would score 60 points and their teams lost. Now, these high scorers make their teams win.
True Phil but look at their shot charts. These guys you mentioned are also killing it inside the arc. Midrange, floaters, lay ups, an occasional dunk here and there. All over. Amazing.

And when in the past eras did we see a team down by 1 with 10 seconds to go, the shooter struts down to mid court and shoots a 40 foot 3 point shot and makes it to win by 2 with no time left.

How about d Aaron Fox saying that no matter what the MRI says about his fractured finger, he's playing. Reminds me of the courage of the Pistons Isiah Thomas in a Finals series long ago.
It's true Cristoph! Jordan and company in 84, Isaiah and company in 80. They were good even as college kids but nowhere near what they eventually became and those "and companies" were rosters built for rebounding and pounding. Stuff lanes and they had at most 3 dependable shooters. In the meantime the Eastern Europeans had snipers. Well not much else but they had that LOL
Fast forward to NCAA '23's March madness and man, there were a lot of youngsters cooking like microwaves. Steph may have had something to do with it but I think it has more to do with changes made in the grass roots program. Skills development in particular. Too bad this also came with kids suffering from long term injuries from being trained like fully physically developed adults.
And how about Butler. Gotta admire his hard work. He played his heart out each game to the point of exhaustion. Had he made that 3 point shot last year against the Celtics in Game 7 , Heat would be he the Finals. But he obviously was exhausted. The loss of Chicago, Minnesota and Philadelphia was Miami's gain. And they fit like lock and key. and that's where Miami is now, one game from eliminating the overall number 1 seeded team.
Lakers and Memphis are half way through the first and this game is in hyperdrive. Ja Morant is a gifted and talented young man yet I find myself cursing with each basket he makes and I applaud how good he is
Desmond Bane is killer and Grizz lead 38-24 at end of first.

Good point, Jack. I just saw some reels of shooting coaches using gym like equipment that holds the ball in a platform with a hinge so the kid can mimic the 'stroke' of the machine for the smooth follow through. Dribbling trainers also have a rigid pattern for kids to hone their skills there. Indeed tougher and injury prone for that reason you stated. Their bodies are not yet fully developed adults.
