New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

Lebron was impressive yesterday, almost unstoppable. OKC got away with the skin of its teeth. If not for the trickle in shop of KD, they would be down 0-1. Dallas is still dangerous. After all, being the defending champs they got some pride, and some talent left. Jason Terry seems to shine in the playoffs, as with Dirk. OKC's bench has only 1 guy who scored - Harden; and that's just 6 deep. Hard to imagine that as a championship formula. Pacers got surprised today by a Howard-less Magic. Tomorrow we'll see the next 4 match-ups.

Watching some of the ways D Rose elevates to the basket shows a lot of knee instability.

And that starts either with hip, ankle or big toe issues (Joint by Joint Approach-Gray Cook and Mike Boyle).

When he crouches to spring he also rotates on the knee which can cause torque and cause ACL issues. Instability was probably the wrong word but rather should have said, "concern for knee instability"

Game 1 always is the easiest to steal on the road. I don't look for game 2 to be as close.

I'd say it is really knee stability. If we look at the simple idea of joint by joint approach, the body is stack series of alternating stable and mobile joints. Trouble arises when a mobile joint because stable and a stable joint become mobile. Now disregarding the different mobile/stable parts of the foot, it goes like this:

Mobile Joints

Big Toe (mobile)
Different parts of the midfoot stable/mobile/stable
Ankle (mobile)
Knee (stabile)
Hip (mobile)
Lumbar spine (stable)
Thoracic spine (mobile) [Probably the most important since it interacts with three other joints including ribs, scapula and lumbar spine]
Scapula (stable)
Glenohumeral joint (mobile)

So one can appreciate now how a foot issue can affect the shoulder girdle stability. Or if someone lacks big toe mobility, it can affect COG, hamstring mobility, lower back, etc since one can't toe off properly during normal gait.

Or in Rose's case, weakness in the glute max, glute medius, etc could affect the hip and eg knee stabilty or the root cause of it, the inability to maintain alignment from the hip to foot (something many, many runners suffer from ESPECIALLY females). All this puts stresses on the Medial and Lateral collateral ligaments and when the knee is internally rotated and flexed, the ACL is particularly vulnerable to injury since the MCL/LCL ligaments are in a relaxed position.

Rose is pretty lucky that he didn't damage MCL and Medial meniscus eg. the unhappy triad. Seems that Shumpert had both ACL and medial meniscus damage.

Lakers looked really good today guys and if they win this round they get the Grizz (who are looking amazing tonight as they beat up the Clipps) next round and they are formidable

Too bad for Rondo and the Celtics. They were in that game until that bad call followed by a double T and ejection for Rondo who bumped the ref so he could miss next game

I could only shake my head on that play. Foul on a would be jump ball, fired up Rondo who was a few feet from the action. The bump was kinda soft but a touch is a touch. No touching the refs. Breaks of the game.

Kobe is still an unstoppable scorer who can sink 30 points a night, and is one of the more consistent scorers out there in the league. With Bynum shining lately, and a tall threat like Gasol, LAL should go to the next round without much problem. Just like the Spurs, the Lakers have strong basketball fundamentals.

Knicks and Carmelo make a valiant try but not enough as drop second straight to Heat.

Look like Indiana's about to even their series.

It's better than game 1, Myles. Knicks of course has to hold home court, and usually they have better offense at home. Novak, Fields, JR not making their outside shots. The interior defense of MIA is really commendable despite it's lack of true 'bigs'. And James, as usual is taking charge as Wade just declared that LBJ is their main man and he is 2nd.

Much credit should be given to Eric Spoelstra ...He is shadowed by his duo of great players (as it should be) but has been doing a great job as a coach. For once Riley should be commended for leaving the young man alone ... apparently :) ...
And what about Bynum slowly becoming the second best center in the league... It could be that Stern did the Lakers a favor ... Bynum is for real if he stays healthy and doesn't develop too much of a Metta WP attitude ...

Well, hard to explain this action from Amare...sigh...I know in the playoffs the players get intense, but hurting yourself?

MIAMI – Amar’e Stoudemire walked off the court after yet another New York Knicks playoff loss, frustrated, fuming, dismissed again by the Miami Heat. A little more than an hour later, he would leave American Airlines Arena with his left hand heavily bandaged, his arm in a sling and both his and the Knicks' immediate futures in doubt.

In between, Stoudemire punched a fire extinguisher case in the Knicks' locker room, mangling his left hand on the glass and causing a chaotic scene that saw paramedics wheel a stretcher into the room. Stoudemire needed stitches to close the gash on his hand, but flew home to New York with the Knicks.

Remember couple of pitchers in baseball punching the wall in the dugout and breaking their hands too. :( Dummies.

Personally think Amare is frustrated not just by the playoff results but that his back is still hurting him and he's not performing at 100%. Can't tell me that he's healthy. Certainly now anyway :)
