One Amigo Visits South East Asia and Hears Some Amazing Systems

Steve what can I say apart from a massive thanks, for bring this trip's experience to life with your pictures, words, description and emotion. I savoured this thread over a few days to digest it slowly. It just needs that level of attention.

As you know some of us have done audio trips to various parts of the globe, in the name of this hobby and created fabulous friendships in doing so.

If it wasn't for your trip, we would have never ever heard about the extent of passion that Jack, Jim, Phil, Sam and many of the others bring to fruition in their homes.

Thank you for sharing once again.

And to the owners of such magical systems, we hope that someday our paths may cross somewhere so that we may learn just that tad bit more; all because of the music!

Hi David,

On post #235, the towers behind us are a pair of stacked Metaphor 2s. I have two pairs of Metaphor 2s as I intended to stack them up similar to how other hobbyists stack their Vandersteen speakers. It had remained an intended project for more than 10 years. Sadly, super mario, who takes care of my equipment, was diagnosed with terminal cancer last December and was only given 6 to 12 months. This pushed us to immediately start on stacking the Metaphor 2s. The stacking contraption was designed by the same person who took responsibility on the aesthetics of my listening room. This pair of stacked Metaphor 2s will rotate into my listening room by the middle of next month.

Here are some pictures of Sam's stacked Metaphor 2s speakers.

And some more. Beautiful woodworking for the braces.

Fabulous photos Phil. Mine didn't do them justice but I seemed to have been limited by far more golf bags than when you took those :)

Plus you get to admire Sam's museum of great gear

Fabulous indeed, Steve, though they were taken by Sam's interior decorator yesterday and passed on to me for posting. Like you, I was 'constricted' by the multiple golf bags when we were there. :D

OMG. Sad to read about Super Mario's diagnosis! :(

Yes, indeed Mario looked very well to me to.

Hi Steve,

I did not know that you were going to take pictures of the storage area. I thought you would just listen to the system that was set up. Had I known, I could have invited two more friends to help move the golf bags elsewhere and to move the stacked Metaphors to the middle of the room so they won't block the shelves the equipment are stored on.

Hi Steve and Jack,

Mario was extremely well that day, aside from not feeling any discomforts, his appetite was also excellent. Had he not been stuck in traffic, he really wanted to join the dinner too. These past two weeks had not been good. He is scheduled for an MRI this coming Wednesday. Aside from liver cancer, he was also diagnosed for cirrhosis.

My pleasure, Sam.

I never knew I was going to as well Sam until I entered this veritable museum of speakers, components and golf clubs. When I come back the next time rest assured I will be taking more pictures so consider your self warned :)

Hi Steve,

I look forward to your next visit. Please budget more time when you come to my place.

Ok Steve. I know which speaker to set up for your next visit. Incidentally, have you listened to the Amici CDs.
