Do I see two dPS turntables next to each other?

Hi ack,

Yes, those are two dps turntables beside each other. One of them has a single phase motor and the other has a three phase motor.

Hi Steve,

I'll let our friends Jack, Phil, and Jerry post their impressions after they visit to listen.

Hi Sam,

Will I get to hear those when I visit next month?

Lovely room and great equipment!

Hi Leif,

I'm not sure. I still do not have the urge to plug in any cartridge. Still happy just listening to digital sources.

Hi Steve,

On post #270, the photos Phil posted on post #262 were taken by Coco. Coco is one of super mario's sons and he is the one who took all the pictures Phil has posted on my rooms.

How do they sound guys? I have pictures of those speakers in Sam's museum of collectibles adjacent to his room

Phil are you home form California already

Hi Steve,

I flew back home 2 days ago. As usual, just when I got fully adjusted to CA time, it's time to fy back to get another adjustment to Manila time. It was a great trip, just me and my wife, who hasn't been to the Bay Area since 2007 and that time we and the kids were in Downtown Union Square for just 1 day, so this time, I told her we'll stay longer so we can visit the nice places and also we did spend 2 nights with her college classmate who now is married and lives in Fremont.

Hi Steve,

I set up the Quads with Lamms when you visited so that there would be something familiar for you in the chain. After you left, I swapped out the Lamms for a pair of Stax mono blocks. Jerry posted his impressions of the Stax/Quad combination in FM Review post #12 here in WBF.

I feel that the sonic traits of Metaphor speakers are closest to the Quad 57 speakers. I've always felt that Metaphors are Quad 57s executed in a box with drivers instead of electrostatic panels. To me, Metaphors are improved Quad 57s. Just imagine what you heard with a more extended frequency response and dynamic range.

Hi XV-1,

The ears of the listener and the two speakers approximately form an equilateral triangle. The distance between each leg of the triangle is 88 inches.

I just got back from a listening session in Sam's room which is now playing the stacked Metaphors driven by Stax mono amps. I requested for some CDs that we last played with the double Quads and what I heard was a very palpable midband, with voices very focused and solid. The highs are brilliant and the lows are extended, giving it a 'full-range' appearance and very seamless at that. There is no fatigue in listening, we listened for like 2 and half hours and I felt very relaxed by the music being played. We played the Brothers Four Beatles Songbook, Jennifer Warnes' FBR, Tsai Chin (Mandarin female vocalist), Radka Toneff which all played through without me analyzing anything. I was just swayed by the music. Sam played Celtic Thunder for me and the music was strong and powerful without shrill or brightness. I would say that the Metaphors are very musical speakers, capable of letting one forget the analytics of the hobby, with ample detail, clarity and top to bottom coherence. They do a good job of conveying the music to the listener. Wonderful speakers. Thanks for the great afternoon session, Sam.
