Real Estate: Castles in Europe

Fascinating undertaking.
Nevertheless, it also makes me wonder if, instead of building a new / old castle, they couldn't have taken to restoring existing ones...
I think the reason is that some people want to own the project from the very beginning and they want everything to be perfect for their vision. In such a case, you want a castle, but you want it to be exactly as you have imagined. An interesting approach that will always bring some controversies.

As i live in belgium temporarily at the moment i regularly look at real estate .
For this price its a steal afaic , compared to what you get in NL for 7OO K euros .
Plenty of room for a highend shop as well :p in a nice setting

Over here in HK that would buy like a 400 sqft apartment, or less.

Yeah id think so .
But it is most likely in the french/ east part of belgium and it can be a bit remote hence the lower price , near brussels you pay full prices .
But for somebody who is retired not bad
close to Liege is not that bad...

Plus this castle looks basically ready to move in
I imagine renovating an old castle would be a financial drain.
Our current house is from 1876. Renovating was nearly 5 times the acquisition cost. An old castle will be a even more complex subject.

That is a real steal... I would expect, they forgot a "1" in front of the price.
Very good quality and close to Liege...
Mooi huisje

Tell me about it. We're spending 1.25x the retail cost of the chapel to get her into good shape, and critically, reasonable thermal performance.
I really envy the next owners Lol.

But you always spend much more on the accessories than the main thing

That's a dream house. It is a converted pub and even has the toilets of a men's room of a pub

I was unfamiliar with the Bulgarian ski resort of Borovetz when I came across this modern castle. If only modern day royalty had decided to offset additional heating concerns of 4.5 m ceilings with large amps in their design brief.

Can't deny it. Life is a project. Death is the payoff.

Not so much a castle but a country estate.

I just found this earlier on today in the Long Room during our short stay there.

I was surprised to say the least. Plus some vinyl to play. Nice touch if it started a trend it would be cool.

Amazing place, very highly recommended.

Wow you do not need to set up any diffuser or absorption panel in this gorgeous room.
