Fascinating undertaking.
Nevertheless, it also makes me wonder if, instead of building a new / old castle, they couldn't have taken to restoring existing ones...

I think the reason is that some people want to own the project from the very beginning and they want everything to be perfect for their vision. In such a case, you want a castle, but you want it to be exactly as you have imagined. An interesting approach that will always bring some controversies.

For this price its a steal afaic , compared to what you get in NL for 7OO K euros .
Plenty of room for a highend shop as well in a nice setting

Over here in HK that would buy like a 400 sqft apartment, or less.

But it is most likely in the french/ east part of belgium and it can be a bit remote hence the lower price , near brussels you pay full prices .

close to Liege is not that bad...

Still close to the ardennes / nature and a lot of space/ land around the house .

That is a real steal... I would expect, they forgot a "1" in front of the price.

Tell me about it. We're spending 1.25x the retail cost of the chapel to get her into good shape, and critically, reasonable thermal performance.

That's a dream house. It is a converted pub and even has the toilets of a men's room of a pub

I was unfamiliar with the Bulgarian ski resort of Borovetz when I came across this modern castle. If only modern day royalty had decided to offset additional heating concerns of 4.5 m ceilings with large amps in their design brief.
