Rhapsody.Audio Listening Rooms

Rhapsody.Audio- Listening Rooms (RLRs)

Rhapsody.Audio would like to announce that within the next 3-4 months there will be multiple new locations where several of the product lines that Rhapsody.Audio represents will be available to audition via Rhapsody.Audio Listening Rooms (RLRs).

Initially, the RLR’s will have the products available for demonstration mentioned below. Upon opening, the DFW RLR will have a very similar product offering as that available at Rhapsody.Audio in Manhattan.

It would be VERY interesting to hear the Elrogs and any new production, ANUK included, and see how the compare to the NOS.

I should add that there are probably a hundred+ Kondo users out there that use the stock Kondo tubes and live happily with their amplifiers and enjoy listening to music with their systems.

Buying NOS 211s at $700 - $1200 each from the 40's is not for the faint of heart!
Yes, you are completely right. If you want to go all the way, i.e. getting the best sound out of the Kondo (pre)amps, - and I suppose it is the same for (many) other tube amplifiers as well - you need to spend a lot of money on top notch NOS tubes. But if you can find as well as afford the latter, we both agree that you are being rewarded.

Amen:)

How many manufacturers actively promote buying NOS tubes to optimize performance? My guess is zero.
Yes, I would think zero. The problem is they just aren't readily available. It's not only that you can't find them, if you do, they cost an arm and a leg, which would be fine, if they were tested at operating voltages, and had some type of return policy or guarantee. Then finding matched pairs that are truly matched. None of these safety nets come with purchasing NOS tubes. It's a crapshoot.

BUT, they sure do sound good:)

Just to be sure, Bob, and only because you were referring to the ANUK 211 valves:

These were the special molybdenum 211 valves I mentioned yesterday

Thx Rudolph, Yes I am aware of them as my tech is also the ANUK US service center as well as a sales location for ANUK. We are "strange bedfellows" because of the Kondo/ANUK relationship. I know those 211's are VG, but again, not in the cards for me.

Fully understandable, Bob.

So many great rooms @ Rhapsody NYC! I am very much looking forward to visiting. Covid be DAMNED—back to hell where you came from %@#$!

Over here at Rhapsody-out-West, I’ve managed to get the Bayz Counterpoints reasonably dialed in. Room for minor tweaking — possibly. But they are sounding very good in their current spots.

Jerry, the Rhapsody.Audio - Chicago location owner, just installed his Bayz Courantes, to go along with the Alsyvox Botticelli and the Diesis Caput Mundi. All driven with Pilium SS and soon to be VAC tube amplification.
Jerry has been having almost daily visitors, some guests prefer the Alsyvox, some the Diesis and now maybe some the Bayz.
