I have never tried a silver transformer. Do you mean silver step-ups or power supply transformers ?

Either. Was just checking if you generalised silver stuff

IMO it is like anything else, it comes down to the execution of the 'technology'. I have heard silver cables that are bright sounding. Some where it is like someone shined a flashlight on the upper midrange. But there are some cables with silver wire that I would never have guessed they used silver -- Argento is an example.

I have to say a combination with both silver AND copper cables is due to my phono set up.
Silver for the tonearm cables/phono cables and copper for the balanced cable going from the phonostage to the main preamp. I have tested different combinations in the past, but this seems to be my final choice.

Agree...first experience with silver was someone's DIY. I did not know anything about the 'stereotypes' of metals in cables...but it was screechy and thin. Then I read about the stereotypes...but find myself absolutely enthused with the work of Z:Axis Audio whose cables are pure silver.

No, and some sound different, i have just never encountered one i liked the sound of. They often go well hand in hand with the muffled sound of tubes. ;)
I think you mean that they reveal the harshness of SS gear. :p

If you ever feel like DIY cable, I highly recommend this. Smooth, detailed sound, love it.

is it 2025?

Ha! Well at least no one so far is denying that cables do have an impact on SQ. The only discussion seems to be around how much of an impact.

I thought we all agreed to take the other side of the argument this year? You know, mix it up a little.

You sound like a Jehova witness , Cable cult :) .

You want confirmation of the Siltech Double Apex golden extended diamond triple crown you just bought / were going to buy ;)

I highly doubt that.

Maybe I’m confusing what you said about Cardas cables with what you said about Benz or Grado cartridges, but I distinctly remember you describing some brand as having a very specific characteristic that you wanted in your system, and I think it was warmth. I have the same impression from my memory of how you used to describe analog versus digital or was it tubes versus solid state? Perhaps you have changed your thinking or I am mistaken.

EDIT: I found the reference. You wrote this in your Grado Epoch cartridge review:

“I describe the tonal balance of the Colibri as neutral. Neutral is not the slightly warm tonal balance I subjectively prefer.”
