I think it's a fair question. Well, at least some kind of a comparison.

Have you compared regular in wall wiring to the JPS Ron mentions? What were the differences?

it seems hard to do unlike normal cables hence my question.
Yes, I’ve spent years testing wires, panels and ground configurations, I believe I posted pictures of some of the tests in the forum a while back. For flexibility in the listening room I always run wires over ground from the panel it’s very easy to do additional runs and test them. Pictures of that in @PeterA thread. I didn’t care for the JPS it has a type of coloration that I don’t like, ie not natural sounding. On the other hand off the spool copper wire from the supply house was much more natural. I didn’t find much difference between electrical wires of same spec, of course the grounding schemes played a significant part in overall results.

Back to the nascent digital project, please . . .

The Internet provider co-axial cable coming into the house connects to a router. From that router there is a run of ethernet cable to the room in which the streamer will be located. From that router there also is a run of coax cable to the room in which the streamer will be located.

Is there any sonic difference between picking up the Internet signal from the long length of coax cable with various junctions or the long length of ethernet cable with various junctions? Which one should I use to connect to the streamer?

Thank you!

Your house is too small to make a big difference for cable differences. Do what's convenient. Throw away any DACs/streamers that sound significantly different when swapping internet sources.

When you throw them away Ron, I will pay for the shipping to Florida.

I had a strange dream last night. I dreamed that today is the day that I connect an MSB DAC to my line stage preamp with two white, heavy gauge, solid core conductors about two feet long.

To make the connection between the DAC and the preamp with these hard-to-bend conductors I first had to push both of the conductors through a tube of thick marshmallow about a foot long and about three inches in diameter. o_O

Is marshmallow a good dielectric?

I woke up before I learned how this system sounds.

Marshmellows make good cablelifters.
To top it all of one can use a bag of M&M s on top of the gear to reduce further vibrations , if you need less weight you can consume some of them

Another free tip of AD

Dr. rando suggests to discuss your high level of anxiety related to wall cable burn in next time you seek professional help over this hobby. He also believes disdain for smokable's was self evident in your dream.

Mmmm, marshmallowy.

Cables I am planning to evaluate:

Mogami or Belden interconnects (whichever brand and model is recommended by David) (these will be used for the 50’ run between line stage pre-amp and bass towers)

Absolute Fidelity (especially speaker cables and power cords)

Cardas Clear Beyond (especially interconnects)

Ching Cheng power cords

Iconoclast (especially interconnects and power cords)

Masterbuilt Ultra (especially interconnects)

Sablon interconnects

Small world. Yesterday I visited a friend who got my Lamm L2ref and M1.2REF. He is using a pair of JLAudio Fathom f113v2 and had borrowed fromm me a 4m long Mogami 2791 XLR pair of cables to connect the preamplifier to the subs. As he wanted to try other sub cables I brought my 2 x 6m long Cardas Golden Reference to try - a night and day difference in bass definition and articulation. The only problem is that the Golden Reference is too expensive for subs...

Considering cables my usual plan is evaluating anything I can put my hands on!

I just noticed that tickets for concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall next year opened up. I ordered tickets for Symphonie Fantastique in March in the first orchestra row and Mozart Jupiter Symphony 41 in June in the last orchestra row. It will be interesting to compare the difference in experiences between those two very different seating locations.

My contractor just told me that Tinka’s home theater is ready for paint and carpet. That means the listening room is almost ready for carpet.

We also are working on running to the front-end audio components area the ethernet line for a future streamer for Qobuz.

Actual progress, for a change!
