Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

Alright team Taiko, (please read this understanding my tongue is planted firmly in my cheek) enough with the distractions of batteries and supplies — how… many… more… days (weeks, months)… until…

XDMS?;)

certainly a question that everyone is asking but I thought Emile answered it openly several days ago when asked the same question. They are working out all of the bugs etc and as much as everyone wants a definite answer I think it is impossible to give a definite answer. We all know they are close but we will get it when it is a finished product. Version 2.0 was said to be a finished product and not a beta version such as 1.0 which I gather Wilson is writing code daily which as Ed stated, is then sent to a team in Crimea who are working full time to complete version 2.0

Like you I can't wait to get it but Emile is not going to deliver XDMS until such a time as it is a finished product and bug free. I know the screen grabs that Ed and Emile have provided are jaw dropping beautiful and we all know how good TAS is and we also know the promise that XDMS will be better. I say patience is a virtue as the anticipated reward at the end of the tunnel will be well worth the wait IMHO

I am thankful to have TAS, but one problem I regularly run into: On an album, if I skip a track forward or backward, playback stalls. The only solution I've found is to re-start the Extreme. Are there other work-arounds?

Agreed Steve. I worked in software development for a wee-little company up in Redmond, WA, and also for an audio products company. I am infinitely respectful of the development process and how the bug smashing cycle can spin days into weeks, the triage process, and the long days, and too many nights eating pizza.

Doesn’t mean I won’t poke the bear :p

Wil. I have had the same problem. Occasionally after I stop a track and play a different track I notice the blue bar moving but no sound. I find if I push the stop button and then the reverse button and then push the play button the problem is gone

I understand the wait is a tough pill to swallow, we did invest a significant amount of time to roll out an update which made Roon competitive to TAS to ease the pain when we decided to skip the release of XDMS v1 and go straight for XDMS v2. This also was supposed to give us some breathing room and accelerate XDMS v2 development as TAS is very support intensive. Unfortunately this only bought us limited time, many have moved back to TAS now, rightfully so, but the support load is back with a vengeance.

What we are going to release needs to be stable, we could release something right now, but the support on that would cripple the development on the stable release, just as the support on TAS has delayed XDMS. We are learning on the job here, and what we have learned is to be careful on releasing something which needs significant support :)

With all that said, we are actually close, we have 8 coders working on it fulltime, a considerable force, but we‘re unsure how much time the last bits will take.

Hi Steve
I don't think anyone expects a "definite" answer. I was hoping for a "days or weeks or months" rough estimate. Last year, Ed gave a 2Q22 estimate, then later on May was discussed as a rough target.

I have great faith in the Taiko team, unlike Tesla which has been promising class 5 autonomous driving for years now and is still stuck at class 1 (I am a beta tester and while the techie in me loves the incremental improvements, it is still obviously so far from truly autonomous driving that....nope, don't get me started on that love- hate affair.)

Edit:. Written before Emile and Marty's posts.

The BPS can supply over 1000A of instantaneous current, I accidentally liquified a M6 bolt with it once.

Next stop: Titanium cases restricted to heat cycles that only turn them increasingly lovely shades of orange from use.

Close the TAS App by double pressing the Home Button and swiping the TAS App Window slowly to close the App completely. If you don't have a Home button, swipe the white horizontal bar at the bottom of the screen slowly to show all of the Apps that are running. Scroll or point to the TAS App Window and swipe it up quickly to close it down.

Relaunch the TAS App and go through the connection process and TAS play normally again

The problem with TAS, it's not our backend, (its Logitech Media Server) and the Remote interface has been coded by a guy doing it as an unpaid hobby / work of love

XDMS, is our own coded from scratch backend, our own user interface all being done by paid UI/UX professionals, Flutter coders, and a person who only does testing. There is also a project manger who is whipping and driving

Flutter????

----
Is Flutter a Programming Languaguage

As Flutter becomes more popular and establishes itself as the go-to technology for developing mobile apps, let’s have a closer look at what principles it’s based on and see whether calling Flutter a programming language is correct.

What is Flutter?

Flutter is an open-source framework used to build native-looking iOS and Android apps from a single codebase. It was created by Google in 2015 and since then has been used to develop over 100,000 apps.
There are a number of good reasons for Flutter’s popularity. Flutter can be used to quickly and easily develop apps for different operating systems while achieving native performance and visual consistency on different platforms. It also includes a hot reload feature, which automatically updates UI content when the code changes, allowing for smoother coding.

Is Flutter a programming language?

However, Flutter is not a programming language. It’s a software development kit (SDK) with prewritten code, consisting of ready-to-use and customizable widgets, as well as libraries, tools, and documentation that together serve to build cross-platform apps. Flutter’s language for cross-platform development is Dart, which was also developed by Google.
Flutter avoids using a bridge to communicate with the native layer (such as Android or iOS). This minimizes performance issues and boosts app startup time.
Of course, Flutter having its own programming language means that to get your app developed, you’ll need developers to code in Dart. However, Dart is quite similar to Java, .Net, Kotlin, Swift or JavaScript and it’s relatively easy to learn.

I might change my name to "Flutter Coder"! Maybe not, the nickname would be what, "Flut?" Hey, whats up Flut?

Then again, at the trade shows, "my name's Flutter Coder, nice to meet you. Grab a chair."

Ok, I'll stop now.

Sounds like your heart missed a few beats out of pure ecstasy after hearing XDMS V2. :)

In this case on my system the blue bar and the time counter are simply not starting. It's always after some form of me skipping a track forward or backward that initiates the non-functionality. This has been the case from day one with TAS. I've probably had to restart the Extreme 100 times since the switch to TAS.

I've tried relaunching the App many times. The only thing that has worked for me is rebooting the Extreme.

next time try pushing "stop" button then the rewind button and then "play" button
