Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

I was asking about a DAC or Amp in general (not a Taiko future DAC).

I thought it was mentioned the BPS could be used with a DAC? So, for instance, with my Nagra DAC and it's separate power supply, could the Taiko battery supply actually take the place of the Nagra PSU, or feed the Nagra PSU, or neither?

I basically don't understand the relationship between the Taiko battery supply and other (non-battery) power supplies.
Nagra already makes a super-cap power supply and a battery power supply for your Tube DAC. I think it would be difficult to power different brands with the Taiko battery supply: you would need to match voltage and current, and different connections…

Yes, but rebooting the Extreme, if that’s what you are doing, is temporarily degrading the sound quality. It takes some time before things settle down. That’s been my experience.
How long does it take?
I have to reboot the Extreme every 2-3 days, using Roon.

I don’t think there is an exact time but it is at least several hours. That’s been my experience.

Something to consider by Emile and Taiko Dream Team

If there is a chance of fitting batteries and all electronics in current chassis with 6h of play time
this is fantastic and cheap option for very busy people like myself.
I almost never have a luxury of 6h in listening room.
1- 3 h is usually max I can " burn " in a day.
Burning is not making money to me.....

As Emile mentioned the biggest cost is the chassis. So in this case there is no need for a second chassis. So no additional costs here.
Less batteries means less costs as well.

I think it could be a very good option for many who do listen for less than 6h and / or they know spending 20K for the battery supply for extreme is not possible.

Please consider having 2 upgrade options
1. Cheaper BPS of 6h in current chassis for busy workers
2. Double chassis monster upgrade for reach and famous

Did you read Emile's post #10620?

Potentially yes, XDMS can play Radio stations but it is low down on our wish list.

Not on our list at the present time, is a digital input such as Airplay or Blutooth
AirPlay would be highly desirable. Hopefully this functionality can be added to the ‘to do’ list.

Surge: Why do you have to reboot the extreme every 2-3 days for Roon??? I could/would not tolerate that very well, at all. Do you know why this is happening and have you asked Taiko about this?

That is not normal. I haven’t rebooted my Extreme in over a month, running either TAS or Roon.

@diminches: Thanks, as mentioned I would not handle that well. I wouldn't have thought that was normal...John

No, it’s not clear why it’s happening. It doesn’t really bother me because I will switch to XDMS as soon as it is released and never touch Roon again.
It must be a software issue - probably with Roon, and perhaps because my internet connection may be unstable, although it’s always stable when I am listening, and I can always connect to the Extreme using VNC (that’s how I reboot it).
I am running the latest Roon versions (on both iPad and Extreme).

What happens is when I try to play a track, Roon‘s interface shows the track playing and fast forwarding/skipping to the end; but nothing happens. No signal is sent to the DAC.

Anyway, not a big deal - Roon will be deleted as soon as XDMS is released!

I upgraded to 952, Roon does this so often I can't gauge SQ improvement at the rate this is happening. It seems like its week to week? Roon sounds very good in my system. DV2/NS1/ External Hard Drive dangling from a Nucleus. Primitive! I have never heard TAS. XDMS should be a revelation, with all the accolades I have heard in regards to Roon/TAS. I will be Extremely Happy if the SQ Blows away what I am hearing right now as I peck these keys. John

Is this running on your Extreme, John, or on a Roon Nucleus?
