Taiko Audio SGM Extreme : the Crème de la Crème

For those still owning Buffalo + PinkFaun ultra.
Placing Buffalo switch between the home router and Taiko router significantly improves overall
presentation.
At this point of time this is a must to have in my system.
without Buffalo the magic is gone.

This might change after full burn in of both DCD and Taiko Router
OR
when I replace home router with Taiko Router only.
( ISP modem in bridge mode - Taiko router - Taiko switch).
I hope the last proposal should be the cleanest and will aloud to eliminate Buffalo , but time will tell.
So far I was unable to eliminate Buffalo from my system after more than 100 attempts.

I found the edit.

I hit "add" but that just added a radio OpenWRT. I assume I should delete that?

I think my strategy will be to increase the power and operating mode when I want to copy files to the Extreme and then go back to the default settings for listening. Using "n" and a higher power I am able to achieve 45 mbps which is great to copy files.

Yeah probably just remove that additional radio again.

No.
just clear queue AND cache .
Than continue listening
I know where to clear the queue of course, but where do you clear the cache in Roon?

Yeah:

Default:

Alt1:

Alt2:

Note that you should not take this as how you will perceive this yourself as your preferred outcome can depend on your powersupply/utility, system setup and your own individual perception and preference. Highly recommend to give them all a serious audition. The quickest way is to just switch the DC cable powering the switch between them as that will only cause a few seconds of “downtime”.
Good addition! I've now also added these DCD labels to the report on the Taiko Audio Website.

Go to setup, scroll down you will see clear cache. It will the ask to do a restart, just do it. Takes a second...

Thx. I never knew that was there. Have not used Roon (am using it now) since XDMS was first released.

For those who have the dc distributor: does your grounding screw screw in all the way? Mine stops halfway, and so I have no tension on my grounding cable which keeps dropping off.
Mine does screw in all the way.
Are you hand tightening it or using Allen Wrench?
Allen wrench. Now it goes about 80% of the way in but not touching the metal still
With the 10mm long screws that came with my unit, there is 2-3mm space with the Router and about 5mm space with the DCD from the farthest point of the casing where it curves away, and 2-3mm more to the bottom of the cavity.

We're contemplating how best to address this for the next batches.

Meanwhile, I would recommend using one or more O-ring spacers or washers as needed.

I am just reading this post as I have been listening to Roon now all day but with songs that I use specifically to demo, here's my take, ...

XDMS is beautiful still but Roon sounds 3D and XDMS sounds 2D
Just wait until you hear NSM;-)

Take a green pad (for washing pots and pans) clean the threads on the screw, could be a small burr..
For my units at least, that's not it. The screws are longer than the holes. The team is thinking of how to best address this as we speak.

Use a couple SS washers...Problem solved...

Can anyone describe what qualities roon-ies would prefer?

If you preferred Roon over XDMS before the router/dcd you will most likely have a preference for the “alt2” filter, if you preferred XDMS chances are good you’ll prefer “alt1”.
Please note that Emile only mentioned a likely correlation. It is not a hard rule. Without the Router and DCD, the way I hear it, Roon sounds more spacious, relaxed, and free-flowing, XDMS sounds tighter, more articulate, texturally more realistic, and more direct.

Just uploaded the latest versions of the following Product Summary Docs:

- Extreme DC Power Distributor_v011

As always, available from the Downloads section on the Taiko Audio website:
