If you read through this thread you can find quite a few pictures with the copper slabs being used as platforms for my various audio components as well as for mass loading them, including the Tidal LA’s. To the 40 slabs I am currently using I will add another 18: a few of these new copper slabs are going to be placed on top of my LA’s and will replace the smaller copper slabs and (as a consequence) lighter ones I use at this moment for ‘mass’ - each of the Tidal LA’s loudspeakers weighs (a hear under) 500kg - loading them.
As you know I am waiting at the moment for 18 extra pure, untreated copper slabs to arrive in the Netherlands. Currently ‘only’ my Wadax reference server and Wadax reference dac as well as my two Acoustic Revive RTP 4-EU absolute powerstrips are benefitting from three copper slabs used as their platforms. So my Kondo G1000i linestage (PSU as well as its head unit) and the Kondo Gakuoh mk ii poweramps are each standing on two copper slabs. Once the additional 18 copper pieces have arrived here I will change this as follows: each Kondo component will get three copper slabs as its platform. Furthermore I will increase the mass loading of all four units. In order to ‘handle’ this extra weight I have ordered today (another) 12 Hifistay Absolute Point footers with special copper caps. After adding these 12 footers I will be employing 20 of the Hifistay Absolute Point footers (with copper caps) in total in my Tidal LA system. Here is a link to this special footer: https://www.monoandstereo.com/hifistay-absolute-point/
I suppose most (or maybe all?) WBF members think differently, but apparently there are still persons who think that cables in general en pc’s in particular make no (material) sonic difference. In the last couple of weeks I listened in my Tidal LA system to and experimented with four different pc’s and they all sound different. And the differences for the better and worse between them can very easily be picked up; you do not need ‘golden ears’ to hear all these differences, although some of them were marginal casu quo small.
In comparison to my Tidal Audio and Kondo Avocado pc’s I overall preferred the Siltech Triple crown pc’s (they were connected to my wadax reference dac and Wadax reference server). But unlike the experiences of some other WBF members I am still of the opinion that the TC pc has quite a ‘character’ of its own, although I like what it is doing in my Tidal LA set up.
Last week I replaced the three TC pc’s with the three high quality pc’s I had not heard so far (after the latter had been connected to my cable cooker for four days). And the sonic experiences with these pc’s sort of confirmed my findings with the TC pc’s because these new pc’s are more transparent than the TC pc’s: I hear not only (even) more details with them but all (other) micro information is also ‘laid bare’ more clearly. In addition they are more powerful than the TC pc’s with a deeper, more prominent low end. Actually the dynamic presentation with these new pc’s is extremely impressive as is their bass performance. On the other hand the tonality of the TC pc’s is (in particular in the highs) fuller / warmer - which I like but might it be some sort of coloration? - while they also create a deeper soundstage with a (to my ears anyway) more convincing 3d presentation.
The plan is to do some additional listening experiments, inter alia connecting two TC pc’s or two of these other pc’s to my Kondo Gakuoh mk ii amps. Curious to find out what this will bring, sonically speaking.
The protype of this new filter to which I am currently listening to in my Tidal Audio LA system is already mighty impressive but this final version beats it handsdown.
And here is a third picture:As you can see in this (third) picture there is a binding post attached to this new filter: in an ideal configuration you connect this filter with a (high quality) grounding wire to a (high quality) grounding station.
Please compare the (first) pictures of the copper slabs - that is before their cnc treatment, sanding and polishing - with the next ones, and the difference for the better is obvious:

I have some valid reasons not to reveal the brandname of the other pc’s I am currently listening to for the time being, but in due time I will disclose the name.
Not disclosing the brandname for the time being has nothing to do with trying to ‘seduce’ (you used the word “seductive”),Tom. I have a few other reasons for this and I wanted primarely to describe my sonic experiences with the Siltech Triple Crown pc’s (which I like but not everybody of my ‘listening panel’ agrees) in my Tidal LA system.
The work on the 18 additional copper slabs is nearly ready. If everything goes according to plan these copper pieces - as well as 12 Hifistay Absolute Point footers with their copper caps - will arrive in the Netherlands somewhere next week. To incorporate all these new pieces in my LA system will require quite some work and I will definitivily need some extra hands with that. So I am not sure yet when I will be ready with all this.
To give you some idea I insert a few pictures of some of these pieces before their final sanding and polishing:
The 18 additional copper slabs are nearly ready and will be delivered this week. The 12 Hifistay Absolute Point footers with their special copper caps arrived last week. I am currently cleaning and polishing my other 40 copper pieces and hopefully I will be able to install all these slabs - with some help - next weekend.
Here are a few pictures of some of the new copper slabs:
With really tremendous help of the person who sanded and polished them meticiously 18 oxygen free pure copper slabs were added to the LA system yesterday and today. I am dead tired.
To give you an idea I added a few pictures.
On Tuesday I will drive to Germany to drop off quite some of my audio stuff at the factory of a cryogenic specialist. The cryo process will last at least 24 hours. Not sure yet when I can pick up these items again. I have done this cryogenic process with some of my (other) audio equipment before and I experienced serious sonic benefits afterwards.
Thanks much Lloyd. And indeed, although I (also) love the look of (untreated) copper I only added all these copper slabs to my LA system for sonic reasons.
And although 7 copper pieces have not been inserted yet (and as a consequense cannot be seen on the pictures) - a few of them are going with me to Germany for a cryo treatment - I have been able to:
- place my 2 Kondo (power)amps, 2 box Kondo preamp, the Wadax reference server, reference dac and the dedicated PSU of this server on three platforms (in total 7.5 cm thick).
- all components - including the Tripoint Emperor NG and 2 Elite NG mk ii ‘grounding’ stations - are being massloaded.
- my Tidal LA loudspeakers are being massloaded as well.
Oxygen free copper is - nowadays - quite expensive and very heavy (and therefore lifting and placing these pieces in an audio system is really no ‘fun’ at my age) while the CNC treatment, sanding, polishing and transporting them to my home is costly as well. But the sonic effects of these copper pieces are really profound.
However, after having assembled by now in total 58 copper slabs for my LA system ‘I am done’ with ‘collecting’ copper.
I am nearing the completion of the first step of the last phase regarding the upgrade of my Tidal Audio La Assoluta system. Last week I did the following:
- added a third oxygen free pure (untreated) copper slab as platform under each of my two Kondo Gakuoh mk ii poweramps and each of my two box Kondo g-1000i linestage.
- 4 x 3 Hifistay Absolute Point footers with their special copper caps were added in order to effectively cope with the additional weight of these four extra copper pieces.
- added a third oxygen free pure (untreated) copper slab as platform under the Wadax reference PSU for my Wadax reference server (the Wadax reference server as well as Wadax reference dac already had three of these slabs as platforms)
- oxygen free pure (untreated) copper slabs of 38cm by 38cm were placed on top of the Wadax reference server, reference dac and reference PSU and on top of these three pieces a second oxygen free pure (untreated) copper slab was placed for mass loading.
- on top of the two PSU’s of my Wadax reference dac two oxygen free pure (untreated) copper slabs of 38cm by 38cm were placed for mass loading.
- on top of each of the Tidal LA’s two slabs of oxygen free pure (untreated) copper slabs of in total 60kg were placed for massloading my loudspeakers.
- three oxygen free pure (untreated) copper slabs were placed on my Tripoint Audio Emperor NG ‘grounding’ station.
- I stacked my two Tripoint Audio Elite NG mk ii ‘grounding’ units while each of these units is being massloaded with two oxygen free pure (untreated) copper slabs. On the very top is a copper piece of 38cm by 38cm on which my Zanden 2000p cd-transport is standing, while the PSU of the latter is standing on the two 38cm by 38cm copper pieces on top of the two Wadax PSU’s of my Wadax reference dac. Please see one of the pictures I added to one of my previous posts.
- last Tuesday I drove to Germany and visited a cryogenic specialist. I inter alia dropped off all my Tripoint Audio grounding cables, 24 silver jumpers (for my LA’s), a few pc’s, the 6 copper pieces I use for maximizing the sonic effects of mass loading, four oxygen free pure (untreated) copper slabs, quite a number of brass cones and ten (sa)cd’s for a cryogenic treatment of about 24 hours.
- The plan is to pick up all these items in Germany next Sunday.
- I cleaned all silver (jumper and grounding) contact points on the back of my two LA’s.
Hopefully I will be able to enjoy the (sonic) fruits of all these efforts very soon.
And to give you all an idea I include some pictures of (only) a few of my audio pieces in the special cryogenic tank (I polished all these items meticiously before I started my journey to Germany):
It is the second time that I have visited this cryogenic specialist. The first time I took over 200kg with me. This week I brought nearly 120kg to Germany. The official price is now 35€ per kg (as with everything on this planet the price has gone up lately). But I pay the specialist somewhat less than this official price due to my large and heavy ‘shipments’. For this price the audio items get an intensive cryogenic treatment of about 24 hours.
