I haven't listened EMT for a long time because of my laziness

Turns out the Qobuz version played by @wil is 24/88.2 and the Tidal version played @Daro is 16/44.1(non bluetooth). Takeaways being, always use same version and the difference is easily audible over YouTube.

If you think the difference is due to sample rates then you need to find another hobby

I like both sets, I have many other DACs because I have never found the perfect one
for me musicality in digital is a difficult subject
Apogee is more musical especially when playing with dcs bridge AES/EBU, with Wiim it is less
Apogee is fantastic for me and strangely it replaced Lavry Gold for me which is even more musical

if you use good quality oil capacitors in Douk it will be more musical, everyone knows
that's what my friend did but it lost clarity and dynamics when I compared his U4 with my Douk, Mullard e88cc will also improve musically, you probably found information that Mr. Yazaki likes Mullard and Brimare in Douk

but Ericsson tube plays damn well but it is a neutral sound, my friends said that the violin from Ericsson is wonderful and the best of all tubes in Douk when playing instrumental music
I usually avoid suggestions because everyone has a different system and sound taste
what is good with a vintage system is not always good for modern systems
your choice

My attempt:

I like the sound in my room (best I've had so far) - but it could of course sound like crap to anyone else - we do what we can - and it's always work in progress...
I recorded it with my Sonic Presence SP15C microphone because my cell phone microphones are worthless. Recording is with Audacity on a macbook. I amplified the volume by 10db in Audacity, otherwise if the recording volume is set too high, there's too much background noise (which there is a lot of - I may be doing something wrong...).

Bartók's 'Concerto for Orchestra' is perhaps his most accessible work. (!) It was commissioned to him toward the end of WWII by conductor Serge Koussevitzky while Bartok lay in a hospital bed suffering from leukemia. The work revived him for a while but a year later he succumbed. This Concerto is in five movements and as best I can tell, none of them relate to the others. The 4th movement is, imo, one of the composer's most melodic pieces.

Here is the 1st movement. It features a particular Bartókian style called 'night music' From my review of his Piano Concertos, most of this still holds for the piece at hand: "Bartók’s orchestrations feature percussion, brass and woodwinds, while relying on strings for texture and atmosphere. Each piano piece includes instances of Bartók’s famous "night music," a sound portrayal he often used in slower movements. Instead of harmony and melodic development, Bartók delivered his interpretations of nocturnal sounds from animals and insects, often using drum and cymbal taps, strikes and splashes. The meaning of these concertos always seems just around the corner, just out of reach. Nonetheless, for those willing to explore, each work offers wonder, obvious genius, and a celebration of the sheer physicality of sound."

If Stravinsky is a rhythmic devil, Bartok is a rhythmic dervish. Note the continually varying time changes in this piece. While its intro section is slow semi-brooding, overall, from Andante to Allegro Vivace, it can be as feral as some of Bartók's earlier works.

Throughout the entire work, the composer will go from a sweet solo to full manic and go from pp to ff at the drop of a hat. Add in the lightening speed and we have fireworks on the one hand and Transylvanian folk music on the other.

I agree. Wow. The sheer power from the brass and percussion sections and then the transitions to the strings and woodwinds comes through clearly over YouTube and cheap speakers. Very good portrayal of nuance, power and finesse. The range of scale is also very impressive. Also great energy. Well, done, Tim.
