WADAX dedicated forum

Thank you Peter. Well, I hate to break it to Al (Al M.) but even from this YouTube video I can hear some of the sound characteristics that were reported.

Steven Vu, you got me wrong. If I ask questions it’s because I’m interested to learn more, considering the costs and the hype that some of you have made about these Wadax products it has peaked my interest. Regarding if I’m happy with my choices, I will post a YouTube video of one of my systems playing back this exact track that PeterA posted and you can be the judge of that.

Carlos, you may want to post both also in the video comparison thread where people discuss quality of videos, and others denigrate them. This thread is pretty much for WADAX. I suspect posting your system video here will put the focus on your post, not the comparison to WADAX. I agree, hearing your video of this same song will be fascinating give the different systems and likely costs.

My recordings of WADAX i did hear several other set ups with wadax but i prefered these
Samsung A 70 :

Andro, it is fascinating how all four of these videos have the same kind of simple voice with instrument type of music. Where is the challenging music at these shows to really demonstrate what these systems can do?

Do we hear string quartets, choir/organ music, concertos, symphonies? Rarely. I hear them on friend's system videos shared off site.

Peter, I will take your advice and post the videos on Ron’s thread of in-room videos instead.

Andro, thanks for posting the videos, which were recorded by you. I’m sitting here thinking that you have been, outside of the Wadax owners, one of the biggest fanboys of these units. Your videos and the one Peter posted are consistent in a sound characteristic, which appears to be supporting some of the reported sound qualities of the Wadax units. I will leave it at that for now as I want to listen to these units in person to validate my observations.

I did hear some systems play more challenging music .
I listened in Lisbon for about an hour to all kinds of music , i had hoped the Gryphon Apex would be driving the Lyras actually , but it was a very nice demo at Ultimate Audio non the less.

Andro, where is the electric Organ music on these Wadax videos?

LOL

But I'll be happy to hear the WADAX in person once the opportunity arises.

With all due respect I sincerely doubt that a video of any type will convey the nuance required to make the WADAX worthwhile. I think that requires a live audition associated with the finest components.

That's what I'm trying to say as well...

that is possible, but it should surely sound as good as a lot of the other respected DAC‘s on a video. And if it is in a properly set up system, it should start to approach the sound of real music. There are quite a few good videos out there, even digital ones. Those are the benchmark for something as exalted as the WADAX.

Having listened to some of these videos WADAX does sound very good. While I’m sure we’re not hearing everything that WADAX can do even these display it’s quality IMO.

You will not, with rare exceptions, hear anything remotely challenging (or interesting) on a system at shows. This is all the systems and at all price points. It’s kind of pathetic.

Also, I wouldn’t want to judge the sound of any system in a hotel room video compared to a video of a mature set up in someone’s home.

That makes sense. However, I don't think MP3 requires a WADAX.

I've heard Wadax in two rooms last year in Munich. One room sounded great. Texture with good soundstage. Very rich sound with ambience. Other room was a dissapointment for me. Cheaper analog setup just outperformed Wadax expensive setup. Sound was harsh and not for my taste. I thought that it was DAC harshness but they switched to tape and it was still there. Electronics in the chain was adding this harshness. Wadax is great DAC. Don't judge it on the one setup. Listen at least to two to judge it. @Carlos269 believes in measurements, and that is fine. There are many mastering engineers that believe master tape is the gold standard. What is signal to noise ratio? Around 75dB. Numbers don't mean much to them. I would be happy with perfect 16bit resolution DAC. Unfortunately perfect DAC doesn't exist.
