She is awesome. SPQR was a great book.

First contact with her. Appreciate your reassurance this latest will be as well.

Granted this was on the precipice of my mind. Book itself is constructed to a level of quality it would happily be mirrored in creating a uniform permanent library.

Fascinating book, I could hardly put it down. This edition is from 2018 but it perfectly describes what is happening in our society currently. I highly recommend the 2018 edition, there are 2 additional chapters vs the 2014 edition; hopefully, he updates the book again soon. It is about as non-political of a book as you can find these days.

Lullaby

Lay your sleeping head, my love,
Human on my faithless arm;
Time and fevers burn away
Individual beauty from
Thoughtful children, and the grave
Proves the child ephemeral:
But in my arms till break of day
Let the living creature lie,
Mortal, guilty, but to me
The entirely beautiful.
Soul and body have no bounds:
To lovers as they lie upon
Her tolerant enchanted slope
In their ordinary swoon,
Grave the vision Venus sends
Of supernatural sympathy,
Universal love and hope;
While an abstract insight wakes
Among the glaciers and the rocks
The hermit's carnal ecstasy.
Certainty, fidelity
On the stroke of midnight pass
Like vibrations of a bell,
And fashionable madmen raise
Their pedantic boring cry:
Every farthing of the cost,
All the dreaded cards foretell,
Shall be paid, but from this night
Not a whisper, not a thought,
Not a kiss nor look be lost.
Beauty, midnight, vision dies:
Let the winds of dawn that blow
Softly round your dreaming head
Such a day of welcome show
Eye and knocking heart may bless,
Find the mortal world enough;
Noons of dryness find you fed
By the involuntary powers,
Nights of insult let you pass
Watched by every human love.

Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

No, it is not. Jeff obviously posted this to make a point.
Doing what you accuse others of is not making a point...it’s hypocrisy..

You talking about hypocrisy? That's rich.

And of course it was about making a point.
