What's Spinning Tonight?

Don’t totally despite Spotify, as some sounds better there than both Tidal and Qobuz, and vice versa… I have made this comparison many times, and sometimes the sound sucks from all these services, and sometimes they don’t. I think this depends on many factors, and I can’t say why… just the way it is.

It looks good, and I’m glad to see you are enjoying the sound so far… ;) !

Cheers / Jk
Did a comparison of Spotify and HQ. OMG HQPlayet is so much better upon direct comparison. But I played a couple album on Spotify and was very satisfied.

The Cure – Songs Of A Lost World - Album of the Year for me - the more you play this album, the more you want to play it. Very dark, very dense, introspective filled with glorious compression, distortion all turned up to the max.
The Diana Krall lovers and audiophiles alike will probably choke on how this sounds, but seriously the music and emotional impact of this album transcends the sound.

The Miles Showel mastered version sounds good - similar to the digital streaming release but better with an expansive soundstage and good midrange separation compared to the Burnie Grundman mastered version. The BG version at first listen sounds dirtier, perhaps more muddled - however its cut 3-5db quieter than the Miles version. You MUST crank. Then the superiority of the BG is obvious - deeper more power bass, better dynamic contrast, the depth is huge vs the rather shallow Miles depth, dirtier distortion on the guitars and Robert's voice just sounds fragile and more human - the BG is like a different mix.

Do yourself a favour and buy this album and play it over and over and you will be rewarded with one of the best emotional musical experiences one can have.

Gotta luv Roberts self effacing attitude to life and his view of his importance in this world - This is a quote from an interview in The Irish Times talking about the new album:
‘I wear lipstick, I’m 65. I’m not the person to stand up to say what’s wrong with the world’

I spun a real clunker tonight. It was Mario Abril’s Classical Guitar.

I could have recorded it myself if I still had my Alvarez Yairi CY116.

It was incredibly unworthy of sitting in my collection next to Segovia.

This was recorded in 1974 and released in 1976. Monty on the Steinway Grand piano, accompanied by Ernest Ranglin on guitar, Eberhard Weber on bass, and Kenny Clare on drums.
