I have tried to run my system with and without cables and i can tell you cables do make a big difference

John, unfortunately I don't use USB cables, or almost nil (only for pictures, and very slightly for my USB stick).
But I know a lot of people who do; and your post is now becoming an invaluable tool that can be shared with them. :b
