World Music Reboot

One of my favorites, and something I play often at CES is A Meeting by the River with Ry Cooder and Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. The CD is good enough that I never sought out the vinyl.

Jadis, the Claudia Gomez is a wonderful album - but the CD release was only so-so. It's a pity as the music is pretty accessible and might have gotten a far larger audience had it been better.

+1. A Meeting By The River is one of my favorite albums from Waterlily Acoustics. I have the SACD and its a wonderful recording. Reminds me of listening to live concerts in India when I was living there. Recently, I have been a vinyl convert and am looking to get the LP. I have most of the albums from Waterlily Acoustics in CD/SACD and they are awesome.

My other favorites from Waterlily Acoustics.

Tabula Rasa - Flech, Bhatt, and Chen.
Southern Brothers - Newton, Gopalnath.
Fascinoma - Hasell, Cooder, et al.
Hollow Bamboo - majumdar, Cooder et al.

... I have these albums in the CD/SACD format.

Anyone in the PNW who wants to borrow these albums to listen and enjoy, let me know. I am in Redmond, WA.

I like this one...

Yes, definitely...listening to it now! thanks for the inspiration...meanwhile, may also try In the Heart of the Moon by the same artists which preceded this album which sadly was Toure's last before he passed away. Apparently, they knew he was dying, and rushed to make the second album "ALI AND TOUMANI"...which is truly fantastic.

thanks!
