Sorry, Steve Williams: When I mention fiber that is just to feed the house. My intention is to also use copper to the Extreme, whether its from Satellite, or Fiber through Spectrum. For now until fiber is available I am doing the same as you (I think). The part I don't understand is when you say " I stream wireless to a "satellite" in my sound room that has ethernet into my Extreme" I also come in with coax Dish to Modem, Copper Ethernet from Modem to Router, copper Ethernet router to Extreme. (when it arrives) I'm using a switch in my current config., that may be removed and a cheaper switch between router and Extreme. John
no problem here at all, a definite tertiary priority after SQ and SQ.
by the way, i would also be very interested in an internal 6 hour battery capability.
@oldmustang: Steve Z indeed we are in a similar situation. I feel for your conundrum. Price we pay for seclusion. The conduit is sticking out of the ground in front of my property out on the main road for when they pull the fiber. Like a carrot in front of a horse. Its actually orange! I have some contacts that may have to be another "conduit on my behalf" I'm part of the Rural Development Broadband Reconnect Program, I fall into the regions they are connecting. I've talked with everyone you can imagine, they know my name. The person who is in charge of North Carolina's RDBRP has told me if I run into any issues to contact him. He is truly the main Man. I've thrown everything at them, from Veteran to Tax payer. You should look into if your area falls into the RDBRP. I'll keep you posted on this PITA situation. @oldmustang: Steve Z forgot to mention these Bandits at AT&T will do Dedicated Fiber For Business to my house, installation is free. 600.00 per month 50up/50down, 2 year contract. I think 100/100 was 800.00 per month! Bandits! John

Orbi router with 4 satellites throughout my house and a satellite in my office which has ethernet ports. I run Triode Wire Labs Ethernet from that satellite to. my Extreme.Never onsce a hisccup
Ok thanks. I had Orbi Wi-Fi 5, now using 6E with the Eero. Have been happy with Eero, although transmission range is not as good.
I will look into the Triode Wire Labs Ethernet cable.
I was using an IOGEAR Wi-Fi to Ethernet adapter, which could have been the culprit with Roon… now removed it and installed another Eero satellite by the Extreme.
The sound quality is great. I did not notice any changes, in either direction.
Steve, you are not. : ) I've been running the same 'setup' as you... for nearly 5 years now. [WiFi from the Router to the Satellite; Copper Ethernet from the Satellite to the Server]
FYI: I recently replaced my Orbi Pro AC3000 with the Orbi Pro AX6000 (WiFi 6) and was not expecting any sound quality differences. My reasons for doing so were not related to sound quality reasons.
I was more than pleasantly surprised by an immediate and noticeable improvement in overall sound quality once the Pro AX6000 was in the system. The only change in the system chain was the AX6000 Router and the AX6000 Satellite.
I talked to someone today about Starlink who said until they get more satellites orbiting in the constellation, that unless there are no trees near your house, that it will not give you reliable service.
Please just try a cheap USB cable. Instead of finding reason why it cant possibly be the expensive new Shunyata Omega it’s super easy to swap one in.
the other thing to try is when it happens, keep the Omega installed but unplug and plug it back in. If that fixes it, odds are it’s the USB.
Same thing happened to me with an expensive aftermarket USB cable. Works for 8-12 hours and stops playing no matter what I do short of a reboot or a unplug-replug USB.
I tested with a cheap cable and came to that conclusion very rapidly. Getting a new sample of said aftermarket cable fixed it for good.
This is troubleshooting 101. even if you don’t think it’s likely, DO THE TEST and eliminate that variable instead of saying oh that can’t be it, it’s too expensive or too new.
True. In my case whenever my number on the waitlist gets called I'll be mounting the dish on the roof of our two level house, which will put it well above any interfering trees. I've used the Starlink app on my mobile already to scan the horizon from rooftop to confirm a clear view 360 degrees.

@oldmustang Steve Z: Looked at Starlinks website, supposedly available in my area 2023. Do you believe they are putting out accurate information? It would be a good backup plan for me. John

Using software to meet the needs of the masses does not meet anyone's needs.

Thanks for the help and suggestions! As Steve and Taiko suggested, the culprit was likely a network connection instability that Roon does not like. If correct, the idea that Roon requires a 24-7 connection, even when not in use, is definitely a design flaw. I believe Emile mentioned that XDMS will not “break” if the network connection is interrupted, which is great.
As a nice bonus, replacing the IOGEAR Wi-Fi to Ethernet adapter with an Eero 6E ”satellite” seems to have reduced the background noise floor in a small but noticeable way (i.e., when nothing is playing, the sound coming from the speakers). Is that possible, when I don’t stream? It must be, as it’s the only change I made.
Once again reminded that everything makes a difference!

Right next door was what it soon became apparent was a system that really did push all my buttons and that, from my perspective at least fast became the system to beat. The ease and scale of the Alsyvox Raffaello speakers (a dipole planar design) being powered by JADIS JA30 power amplifiers and their I70 preamplifier was just stunningly good, with several other people I talked to around the show making very similar comments. Aiding and abetting this already spectacular system was the €44K Lampizator Horizon DAC (I really do want one of these having owned their BIG 7 for several years) and a Taiko Extreme server. This really is high-end audio at its best and with a sound that I could have just sat and listened to for hours. I’ll talk about JADIS, the French manufacturer later in my wafflings about High End Munich 2022, but they are fast become the amplifiers that really do seem to do it for me. This system will have cost house or very nice motorcar money, but had I the space and the money I’d be beating a path to their door and insisting they take my money and deliver PDQ!

Just completed re-ripping my 400 CDs with the Ediscreation ultra silent ripper directly to the Extreme in Flac and Wav.
