The American Sound Turntable- Beyond's Minimalist!

Interesting picture. It looks there is a component (a Lamm LP2.1 phonostage?) between the motor and the platter. That is quite a distance.

Hi Tim. Yes, that is the control unit of the Lamm LP1 phono stage on the top shelf between the turntable motor housing and main chassis and platter. The power supply boxes are on a separate rack off to the side.

The long, loose thread reduces the transmission of noise/vibrations from the very quiet motor to the platter, as do the two separate steel platforms with different isolation methods.

Nice one Peter. I like the looser thread vs very tight as well, but have never tried varying distance between motor and platter. Did you find that the longer the distance the better?

It looks quite sharp, compact and purposeful. I notice the AS2000 is not quite square to its steel plate. I assume that is not by accident.

Yes I do. It was quite audible. I can not be sure if it was more about the long thread or more about moving the motor further away. Likely a bit of both.

With the long thread, I had to rotate the base so that the thread did not rub against the arm board posts. I also had to move the motor forward on its platform so that the thread did not rub against anything. The left front post is now within the thread loop.

If anyone is interested in purchasing a brand new-in-the-box, never used, AS-2000 turntable please contact David Karmeli directly or I will put you in contact with David.

I don't visit the *For Sale* section of the forum often , I suppose its not what most folks look for here , but noticed this For Sale advert in particular , I hope that the sale of this turntable has attracted much interest Ron ? I note that some associated Nothing Racks Or Racks of Nothing ? Are available also … Highly recommended .

Hi!

No, not one inquiry on the turntable or on the stands, unfortunately.

Ron, Why would someone inquire to buy the turntable from you when you don’t own it? David bought the turntable back from you. It is for him to sell if, when, and how, he chooses. My AS 2000 was not available and on the market until David offered it to me.

For someone who disavows being David's marketing representative on WBF, you sure like to jump into the middle of questions about David and David's products.

Whoever purchases the turntable is the most likely purchaser of the unique, all stainless steel Nothing stands. So if I can find a purchaser for the turntable beyond David's group of customers I have a better chance of selling the Nothing stands.

The all stainless steel turntable on top of the all stainless steel stand is stunning looking. I think of them as a set.

You misrepresent the situation, and you know it. You do not own the turntable, and as far as you know, it is not for sale. In my opinion, it is you getting in the middle of David's business. David is not here to set the record straight.

That may be true. When I tried to sell something by mentioning it in a forum, I was told by management to place an ad and pay the fee.

I have not seen a photo of the turntable on the all silver stand. Have you seen the actual combination? I would love to see an image of the real thing. Why don't you simply use the rack for your own system. You might like what it does to the sound. You ordered it custom to your specifications.

That is quite an allegation. It is false. I never knowingly misrepresent any situation.

What situation are you talking about?

I responded to a question by a member. I think it is discourteous for me to see a question and fail to respond to it.

The link he posted is the classified ad for which I paid the fee.

No. The turntable is brand new in the box, never unpacked. The components of the stand are brand new, never assembled. They are stored where they were manufactured.

The "situation"? You are suggesting that the AS 2000 that you were going to once own is available to purchase.

I believe it is available for purchase! Across many communications David has never given me any indication that he does not want to sell it.

Perhaps David has told you something he has not told me?

And Argo asked about both the turntable and the stand. The ad is for the stand, not for the turntable and you responded about both, suggesting both are for sale. That is disingenuous, don't you think? I understand your motivation to sell your custom rack. I just think you should ask David if he wants you to solicit sales for his turntable on his behalf before doing so.

So your serious allegation that I committed a knowing misrepresentation is based on your interpretation that I have suggested the turntable is for sale? Audiophiles around the world who read WBF might know that the AS-2000 turntable I ordered originally is now available for sale. Would if be surprising if someone made to me an "inquiry" about it?

You concede my classified "ad is for the stand, not for the turntable," so you torpedo your main point -- that I am selling the turntable.

I see nothing disingenuous whatsoever. You concede the ad is only for the stands.

I genuinely believe the turntable is available for purchase. Across many communications David has never given me any indication that he does not want to sell the turntable.

In advertising or in selling the stands I might be able to steer to David a prospective purchaser of the turntable. Is this confusing to you?
