A new star in 2019 : Innuos Statement Server

I will follow your lead on this. I have been trying to grasp just how long the CenterStage2 footers really take to settle in. It appears the 2 version cuts that period down significantly. 3-4 days is an acceptable time to wait before installing the umbilical cord.
Please allow me to add another piece into the equation; the new IsoTek Nova3 power conditioner. With that in the mix how would you order the sequence of introduction to the system.
Thanks again!

Have you bought them all or are there any 30 day trial loaners? If something is on trial I’d install that first. If not, I‘d do the footers, then the umbilicals (they are both Statement specific), then the IsoTek, which is going to be used system wide I guess?

Alternatively do the IsoTek first, wait for that to settle then do the footers and umbilicals.

Got it, Blacmorec. I’m most excited by the footers so I’ll install them first, the IsoTek 2nd and the umbilical cord 3rd. Appreciate your guidance.
Thanks!

Al, I own the Cx/ ex combo and am thrilled with it. Have not heard the Innuos. However, the dealer I bought the antipodes from carries both, and prefers it to the innuos for sound quality. At the level of this gear, I really think it’s a matter of personal preference. David

I was all about the Statement ready to be wowed and order on the spot. I compared the CX/EX vs Statement used as servers playing through Niam player and the CX/EX sounded night and day better. Statement sound stage was tiny/compressed and there was a smoothing effect to the music. This was in SF at a dealer. I could not convince them to take the Niam out of the chain. Ended up with the sonore, WOOW!!!

With respect it sounds to me like you need a new dealer who knows how to set up a system properly, as there was clearly a major problem with their set-up

@Redphu I don’t think it’s possible to use both the CX and EX as servers in the same system. In the CX/EX combo, the CX is the server and the EX the player. If the Naim was used as the player, I would assume only the CX was used. Or the Naim was not used as player and only as DAC.

I was wondering why Innuos wasn't on the long list of Roon partners, and then I found this:

https://community.roonlabs.com/t/about-the-innuos-category/76636

I was thinking about buying a Statement, but I must say that the possible limitation as Roon Core, could be a brake.

Are there any real limits?

Except Roon, which app can be considered ideal with Innuos? (using an Ipad)

Maybe iPeng? Does Innuos not have a proprietary interface to work with?

Many Thanks
Roberto

I cannot comment on Roon as I do not use it, and have no interest in using it. I use iPeng on my iPad, which works very well.

Innous are working on a control app and I was told it should be ready in a few months.

The main limit according to Nino Vitorino of Innuos is you can only upsample to DSD128: https://community.roonlabs.com/t/innuos-roon-musicserver/31450/15 . This quote dates from 2017 when Innuos had the Mk 2 models. With the Mk 3 models the hardware has been upgraded a bit.

I think that Roon's statement in the link that SR-1 has left us, about which Innuos does not meet “the minimum requirements” to act as Roon Core, is important enough, for Innuos to let him know on his website. However they claim that they are "Roon Core compatible."

It was not me who left that link, but I offer this link to the Innuos site in case you have not already seen it - http://www.innuos.com/en/go/installing-roon

I currently use the Statement as a Roon Core. I've not had any perceived limitations or problems with it.

This is a good thing ...especially if it allows a good alternative to Roon.

''ROON LIMITATIONS WITHIN INNUOS SERVERS

innuOS Servers currently use Intel Quad-Core CPUs which are powerful enough for music server duties whilst maintaining the system fanless and limiting the amount of power-noise polluting the audio system. The main task requiring very heavy computational requirements is the DSP processing within Roon. With the current hardware, upsampling CD-Quality files to DSD128 and DSD256 will not work properly. Upsampling CD-Quality files to DSD64 works when this DSP setting is being used stand-alone, as well as upsampling to PCM 384KHz. Combination of DSP settings which require more computational power than currently present will result in stuttering music.

If you plan to use DSP on Roon heavily, we suggest to install Roon as scenario 3, using the innuOS server as a Roon player only and using a powerful PC (Windows/Mac) as the Roon Core server.''

...while this paragraph leaves me a little perplexed: to buy an expensive streamer and then be forced to turn on the PC in order to listen. I'd like a totally independent music server.

I currently use the Statement as a Roon Core. I've not had any perceived limitations or problems with it.
Do you have a large music library (over 10/12TB)? I ask why I seemed to have read that there were management limits above a certain size, and this worried me since I have a large number of files.

I am using the Innuos Zenith MKIII, same processor as Statement MkIII.
My library is 16 TB (Zenith plus 3x 4TB Melco NAS) and I use the Zenith as Roon Core.
No problems.

The Innuous Zenith Mk III has firmware issues. I can't play DSD 512 but 256 is fine. Great sounding unit but software bugs limit its utility. I hope it's fixable.

I would be interested in the thoughts of other Statement owners on the performance benefits (if any) of separating the two boxes compared to the more convenient stack. My interest stems from my current focus on exploring relatively inexpensive ways of improving my music system’s performance by reducing the degrading affects of vibration.

I listen exclusively to headphones, and so believe my priority must be draining electrical vibrations out of my system rather than dealing with structure-borne vibration, which must be negligible in my setup. I’m not sure what the feet on the Statement boxes are optimised for, but I suspect they are primarily for dealing with structure-borne vibration as I’m sure Innuos saw the Statement being used mostly in speaker systems. Even if that is the case, I’m wondering if the top box feet’s ability to drain from the chassis is better when placed on a 4cm thick bamboo shelf in my rack instead of stacked on top of the bottom box, which either way is itself placed on a similar bamboo shelf.

I already have the 0.5m upgrade umbilicals (which I believe are better performing than the supplied cables, stacked or not) and have started playing around with different placement on shelves, as well as trying out under various devices 1-inch hard wood cubes and Black Ravioli pads. Taking these steps does make a difference, but it is too soon to be sure what if any permutation is a clear net gain.

Any tips others can recommend would be very welcome.

Ideally, Innuos would use 2 different sets of feet. The first set connected to the AC power supply cabinet, where AC is rectified and converted to the right voltages for passing through to the ‘brains’. This set of feet should drain the transformer and rectification generated vibration by converting it to heat, while isolating the cabinet from external vibration via a high impedance interface.
The ’brain’s‘ cabinet will need isolation from the PS cabinet but will not need any drain for internal vibration. If this is how its been done by Innuos, then splitting the 2 boxes onto 2 shelves should work fine and there should be audible benefits, unless your new shelf vibrates more than the AC/DC PS cabinet, in which case it will sound worse :(.
So best bet? Try and see if its better or worse and let me know the outcome because I’m sitting in the same boat with my units stacked and an empty shelf above on my Pagoda Master Reference stand.

Hello everyone from France,

I have been the delighted owner of a Statement for a few weeks; you will find my configuration in the members'gallery post.

I took advantage of the August promotion to order Orange fuses from Synergistic Research at High End Electronics, including one at the nominal value of the original fuse (2A slow blow 250V). It slammed as soon as it was put into service; ditto for an old black SR of 2A that I had left at the bottom of a drawer.

Alfred Kainz, boss of High End Electronics, accepts the replacement quickly with a lot of professionalism (thanks to him). It is replaced by a 3.15A on the recommendations of Innuos support (also very responsive), which had feedback identical to mine and favorable feedback for this value of 3.15A.

The latter only worked for 15 days before cracking on ignition. Innuos advises against continuing the tests with higher values, so as not to compromise the safety of the device.

Here it is: exit Synergistic Research inside Innuos !!!
The original 2A noname fuse works perfectly, admittedly with a little less spatiality and clipping ...

Sad experience with such a famous brand.

You have been warned!
