What I learnt from Vladimir and his creation is at the heart and soul of the system, everything is built around his vision. It’s his electronics that allow one to hear the AS2000’s incredible naturalness without editorializing and at the other end one really gets how incredible some speakers are when mated to a Lamm amplifier. Living with basically the same system for more than two decades and gradually perfecting setup provides a very comprehensive insight!

I was actually thinking the opposite. The do nothing tt is the source that let the Lamm reveals its true soul. But cannot argue with you who have so much experience on constructing this system. I "play" with my system a lot (so much I need video to keep track of findings) to understand and learn how each component in my system work. Yet you have proven to me time over time that you know my system even better.

Of course I'm not going to argue with you about the AS2000!

I described my personal journey, to arrive at AS2000 I had to have a starting point or aha moment to figure out what it is that I was aiming for. I would say like most audiophiles I was trading one set of compromises for another set for decades until I met Vladimir and his ML2 then I built everything around it. He introduced me to natural sound and what was possible your journey to natural sound on the other hand began with AS2000 and us meeting :) . Even the search for power cords, ie Ching Chengs and your wiring formula began with the ML2's for me, but most importantly I learnt about tonearms and cartridges and how to set them up properly because I could hear what I was doing with Lamm gear and know very well how important that is with the AS2000, it all matters just have a different timeline.

For David it was the Lamm ML2. For Tang, it was meeting David and installing the AS 2000. For me it was not really about specific gear, but rather the guidance that David gave me via telephone about set up, specifically removing accessories from the system, getting the Ching Cheng power cords, aiming the speakers straightahead, and installing the steel plate platforms under my equipment. I became a better listener. These experiments led me to the foundation on which I could appreciate what I heard in Utah. Then it was clear what to do.

We each had different starting points, but each got us going along the same path to natural sound.

The thread may have to re-name to Utah Sound - Far East (Tango) in the future. :D

All this talk about the path to nirvana… maybe I’m just afraid—very afraid. If i go down the path, change up everything—then what, sit around listening to music ?:p

Tang, those speakers will never leave Utah until David is completely satisfied. Meeting the challenge, or solving the problem, and delivering something that will thrill his customers/friends, seems to be a passion for him and his true goal. This is his motivation from what I can tell. I have no doubt that you will be thrilled with the result, and the rest of us will be envious. Lucky you. I can not wait to read about it and see the photos.

He is very much like that Peter. Especially more so when a customer becomes his friend. There are reasons behind this lengthy waiting time of almost a year we just keep it quiet because they are his know-how. Moving into this direction of 'selected' vintage audio gear, I learned that they are precious now and will be more in the future. You may find this and that available here and there popping up on internet. Most of those are hit and miss not in the condition that would deliver 'the' sound. For my vintage cartridges, someone had to pass away to be available to take possession. I fully understand when ddk said to me "We are guardians of real treasures." What I write here probably disgust people. But that is how it is in this particular market segment.

Does this 'new baffle' mean Eurodyns can be made from scratch if drivers are found? If so that's big news :)

The cessaros will be moved to my friend's house. I have not built a new listening room that would fit two sets of speakers yet. Top vinyl can "reveal" tiny bit less than great tape but can sound more alive more connected more often than tape.

If you join my Thai audio group, you will find that we like to listen to difference in sound from different gears. 1% talk about music performance. We love doing shoot out. Our system construction is always tuned to how we like the sound. We cheer one another to buy horizon just to make a comparison with Wadax and the owner can feel special having both most talk about dacs. So with this level of support from us, audio importers here dont need to worry about existing customers no longer buynew products. :)

I believe shipping to Thailand is much cheaper via Hong Kong...but there is a mandated 30 day transit requirement.
Is the transit area your house Howie ? ;)

AFAIK Siemens never made a baffle for Eurodyn it was always diy and aside from some very basic specs I haven’t seen other documentation for it. I guess at the time they were sold and maintained by specialist dealers who knew which materials to use and how to build them. In terms of ultimate sound quality a cinema installation is also less critical than a domestic one in an ultra high end system this is where sweating and figuring out the details really matters including aesthetics; "attraction" is a quality! :)

Here is the Eurodyn baffle information. The German reads “wood at least 2cm thick and black paint”

Basic information like this is all I found too, which is the starting point. There are other spec sheets with slightly different minimum requirements from this page and then all this needs to be adapted from something devised to sit behind a movie screen playing in an auditorium with 500-600 people watching a movie to a small listening room with a single individual listening a few meters away!
