Anyone with big, high current amplifier(s) find a power conditioner that doesn't destroy the amplifier's virtues? Is it even possible? Which Ones?

Please let me know what is your grounding scheme?
you ground the amplifier to the Torus?
Hi...nothing too special. It worked, and I did not seek to optimize. Both of the units are connected to the Tripoint Troy. I am aware of the fact that some find the science behind it makes 0 sense. All I can say is that (for some odd reason) listening to complex choral music, I can understand certain words better with Troy connected than when it is not connected...no idea why, but that seems like a half-decent test for a non-techie like me. So I have left it that way.

The Power Line Conditioner GigaWatt PC-2 EVO+ supplies the T + A M10 monos. They draw a lot of electricity. At the top, an M10 can provide up to 1,500W at 2 ohms. And no, there is definitely no loss of performance.

I think the construction is excellent. A beautiful piece of industrial design.

Of course there is always something to improve. I had the power supply modified by fis Audio. A Furutech FI-06 NCF socket was installed and the power switch was deactivated.

LL12 you are correct. My AVR16 feeds the Krell Evo 400e monoblocks and a PS Audio P10. P10 feeds An Uptone PS for the MacMini, EMM Labs DAC and Krell Evo 202 pre. The AVR16 Plugs into a dedicated 240vac 6mm2 power supply cable that is only 5m from the house switchboard.

If one had a PS Audio P20 (instead of P10), would you put it after the Torus AVR 16 or before?

Wall --> Torus AVR16 --> PS Audio P20 --> all gear (amps, pre, digital)
or
Wall --> PS Audio P20 --> Torus AVR16 --> all gear

or better off with PS Audio P20 --> multiple Plixir BAC400 (one per equipment except amp)

Torus AVR16 first due to it’s current capacity, has surge protection and includes a voltage tap changer to ensure a constant voltage is presented to all downstream equipment.

I am no techie...but I agree that I would instinctively put the Torus AVR16 first. The surge protection is a big plus for me even if the risk of a surge is theoretically low.

I offer this as a point of reference since the Mephisto was mentioned. My system has a dedicated breaker box. Out of curiosity i measured the current. With the mephisto on high bias with no music playing the system draws 13Amps.

When I loaned a HP 5000 to our local Gryphon dealer for a show, Mephisto Monos could drain the batteries in 4 hours. Less than half the time of my M1s. High Bias indeed :)

Like Alrainbow I'm a master electrician. I thought I knew it all and that I had power that was dirty and needed a conditioner. I have studied my system and a few others I have built out now. In the end, I now power my gear strait from the wall and its absolutely silent. Walk in my room and you hear nothing until you get right up to the tube amp transformers. Then you hear a little buzz.

Just running 10 awg romex is not audio power. I actually believe romex, especially the flat crap today adds noise. So does your equipment. And your equipment passes it back and forth and amplifies is.

And if you have a ground loop somewhere in your house having nothing to do with your audio circuit, that loop is circling around in your main panel, and probably data utility box making all sorts of noise that travels right down your audio branch circuit and into your gear.

The path of least resistance, or so people think, is getting on the merry go round of power conditioners. Yet they wont fix the underlying issue.

I cried for years I had bad power. Unfortunately it's beyond a local electricians skills to figure out the problem. It takes a guy who is a dedicated tradesman in a specific sector of the industry. We have specialties. Some of us do track homes, high end homes, light commercial TI, large commercial core and shell or TI, data centers. There are linemen, 01, 02 etc.

Find a specialist who can fix your power. I doubt there is something going on that is not in your control to eliminate. Then you can plug into the wall.

FWIW, if you have a piece of gear that has internal ground issues such as I have had, it will manifest itself as varying degree of noise throughout the day. It won't be static. This will lead you to think its something external. Fix the internal equipment issues and much of your problems will go away. Internal noise also took me years to accept as part of my issue. When I finally accepted that was a problem of mine and sent my mono blocks to Atmasphere, most of my noise went away. Enough that I was now able to fine tune the rest of my system noise as I could hear it. Before, all I could hear was the amp noise. The amp noise was wild and all over in intensity. The subtle foundation power noise was amplified and heard as loud varying noise due to its reactance with poor internal grounding in my amps. Once the amp was fixed I could focus on the light underlying foundation power issues in my system.

I do use an Akiko Corelli and Add Power Symphony and Electraclear. Both product are plugged in parallel to my other gear. You do not plug into these items. They do nothing to diminish current delivery. The Add Power gear actually injects a noise on the power line that somehow brings the sine wave into a better state and the energy of your system will jump substantially. Its heard immediately.

my Equi=tech 10WQ 10kva balanced wall panel system seems to do full justice to my 550 watt into 8 ohm darTZeel 458's just fine.

i've tried the standard outlets sitting right next to my balanced outlets (easy to A/B) and it's no contest as far as dynamics and refinement. not even very close.

Are your general purpose wall outlets the same gauge wire with a similar quality subpanel and distribution. Are they from Equitech panel, just branched to your room pre the isolation transformer. Or are they from a SqD Homeline panel fed with 12 awg romex?

they are normal (whatever that might be, have no idea). it was fresh build with my room, but never spec'd it specially.

I received my Torus AVR2-16 last week, and it is truely amazing. Bass response has significantly improved, midrange soundstage is so much more present and the highs are silky smooth. Honestly I am really impressed. It is now the foundation of my system.

By the way, Audiohippo, I think Bryston (another supremely reliable, stable product with long-term stable management) actually has Torus parts in their equipment. So for me, an endorsement if a company of Bryston's caliber works that closely with Torus.

BTW, just looking at your equipment (Bryston)...I noticed you also have the JVC X7900. What an awesome front projector. We have same/similar model...I am not a videophile so dont track every digit in these model numbers, but we wanted something good, so the owner of the installation company gave us the same model he has in his own theater setup. Its really, really fun to watch.
