Bose acquired McIntosh and Sonus Faber

My favorite organ music capture in a cathedral , is from Dave Wilson , i was able to obtain one from him many moons ago when he was active with Wilson recordings...

Title: The Grace Cathedral Choir and Organ San Francisco. Recording was done using only 2 Schoeps mics .

Fantastic recording ..!

I've yet to find a audio system that can accurately reproduce a pipe organ recital from a cathedral...just saying.

Love of music FIRST necessitates the need for components to reproduce that love. ;)

I've been to many cathedral performances in Europe over the years. French & German palaces for harpsichord recitals & chamber music as well.

I have to correct my statement .
The only one that was may be better was the Avant garde G3 basshorn or FM acoustics full system
That system can produce phenomenal bass.

Fm acoustics is a prime example of a boutique shop miles above the " pleasing MC intosh SF sound ."
Those brands " voice to sell " imo

McIntosh used to mate awful sounding B&W with their stuff.
I don't own any KEF, Dynaudio, or SF for a reason too... ;)

Yes but individually they all have great products , the poor show setups and mating is not representative of what these brands are made of for sure ..!

I agree. That's why I use McIntosh for amplification as well as for digital component playback.

I also like certain vintage McIntosh stereo tuners for radio.

In addition to this I’ll add (as a retired PE partner) there are also other issues at play. These can include the age of the fund and/or a tactical desire to return funds to shareholders (especially true when preparing to market a new fund).

Yes. My day job is a partner at a PE firm.

It's funny how many PE partners are on here. There's your indication of where prices are. ;)

Luckily there are enough cottage companies left .

Those take overs are not beneficial for Sq imo
What you get is a mass market /please everyone product/ approach .
Mc donalds SQ

It depends on who remains. The new post-Acora Audio Research 330 amplifiers are spectacular and from an expanded engineering staff. And I believe there is a group of investors there.

Who s gonna invest in high end audio to make money .
Only dumb money

Those who do are mostly labours of love of people who have already a succesfull business and who do it as a side thing because they have a weak spot for it .

I was responding to your claim that the takeovers are not good for sound quality with an example of where a takeover was good for sound quality.

As a PE partner, I would probably not invest in high end audio except in very rare circumstances where a very low valuation exists for an established brand. I have learned that even billionaires stop buying luxury audio products in an economic downturn.
