Tango, i see a difference at the end of your arm pillars compared to this table and Christians table. Why are the pillars protruding on your table, with something that looks like a bolt in the middle?

you were reading my mind as that was my very thought

And my mind - I thought that looked like a Finite Elemente for a moment. Would be worried that can support the AS Beast.

I only know it was converted from a mono configuration ~50 years ago. And I don’t know what else Hans van Vliet did. Several under the plinth parts are different from what David have seen in his.

Kind regards,
Tang

Hans van Vliet is one the true experts in EMT - your 927 turntable should be perfect. The other restorer we can trust is Louis Dutch - he was an EMT engineer. Mine come from him. BTW, IMHO his shock-absorber replica frame is mandatory.

They are extra counterweights of 3012Rs..hehe.

It is much more robust than it looks - I think there is a thick layer hidden under the one shown and what looks to be a strong metal skeleton. We have seen a picture of this room in WBF before.

David has another friend in Taiwan who also has AS. I saw the picture and envy the simplicity of his system with WE horn. Hopefully one day I am settle with more permanent housing and I can build that kind of system. I dont know if David is at liberty to show the picture but There are quite a few interesting hidden systems in the FarEast that he likes.

Kind regards,
Tang

Decca FFSS Mkll Moving Iron. Impressive from the start. Still dialing in VTA.

Espana ED1 sounds glorious picked up via Decca FFSS Mkll pattern mount cart. Explosive dynamics !
These old carts really suck...lol ! This would not be possible without bayonet mount. What fun !

The next thing I know. You will be listening to Siemens horns.
Just don’t take the one I have my eyes on.

Haven't been on WBF in a while, this is very cool to see the American Sound in production!

How do the modern SPUs compare/contrast with the vintage ones?

@ddk I believe you told me the Classic is one of the more neutral ones and I had always been meaning to hear it.

There's now the #1 too, also close to the essence of the original SPU like the Classic. The vintage one still have more magic IMO.

Last of my Decca carts arrived today...H4E. I’m amazed how good these vintage un-cantilevered carts sound. Right now these carts best all my modern carts on my Decca ED1 SXL series. This cart has the same alignment as my Mark2 making switchover very fast. This cart cost me $700 at auction ! Oh....new record for the collection ED1
