Lampizator announcement: launch of our all new TOTL HORIZON DAC

The bendix 6900 is a phenomenal tube and the pain of the purchase cost will dissipate when you see the heroic build quality. The story behind its construction is similarly awe inspiring (ditto 6c33c tbf) and, whilst people assume them to be scarce, I recall speaking with a seller @15 years ago who claimed to have a whole room full of them. If true, then his pension fund is fatter than most.

It is same league as the ac 701k tube for neumann microphones.
if you have them in NIB, they are better than gold.

P.S without this tube the Lampizator would only sound half as good fantastic recordings with the microphones

Have you heard the Horizon already?

Looking forward to the Horizon order getting built.

Sounds like older/collector tubes maybe the best for the Horizon. On one hand, very exciting, on other, if they are scarce, a bit concerning that they’ll just be gobbled up, even in bulk by a few buyers. Especially looking out 2-3 years.

Is there any more information on readily available tubes for the Horizon and how they perform in comparison to less available/boutique tubes? I believe Lukasz played a key role in developing the RK KR 242s. Any plans for an equivalent Lukasz special for the Horizon?

Just curious as I am relatively new to tubes and ideally find tubes, set and forget, as worked out w the Pacific. i know that might be blasphemous to the rollers...

I have been using 6900 since I got my PAC. It was also used in one of my preamp as well. Don’t even ask questions about these tubes, just use it whenever you can.
Could you pls advise how you used it in Pac? Special build to use 6900 as output instead of DHT?

no. I don't need that, if the recording doesn't produce it, no Lampizator can save it.was just one example of how important this ac 701k tube is for our enjoyment of music and why it is so expensive.

As driver tubes to the DHTs?

Just take a look on Ebay. And make sure you are sitting down before you do.
$450 to $750 each, tasty but not unheard of price level. WE 101Ds are at that level or more as well as other DHTs. Metal base EL34s and GZ34 are within striking range too. I have one of each. Unfortunately no pair of XF0 metal base EL34...just one.

I also have just one (weak but working) WE ST share 101d...sigh. The other gave out after 6 months, but as they cost only $100 for the pair delivered, I can't complain.

You would need a adapter for 6900. And yes as mentioned below, it is used as drivers for DHT. TBH, I was surprised when I got 6900, but not a lot. I have been using it with TAK 300B since I felt they were a good match at the beginning. And now it becomes the only driver tubes I use, probably because they finally got enough hours...

look out for an EL 60 (9 pin socket) that is an El34
However, this found little acceptance, so that after a year it was provided with an octal socket and then appeared as the EL34, which is still in production today. Best you can buy

Imagine I got my EL34 from the BARN for like $10 or so. Took me a few hours and dirty hands to find it. Now I can possibly find a mate with a diff base and get an adapter.

P.S
Twenty years ago these tubes were found for 10 € on amateur radio flea markets, unfortunately the times are over
