Lampizator announcement: launch of our all new TOTL HORIZON DAC

Anyone know if the horizon can use F2a tubes
No, that is for TRP, ie pentode. The output tubes in Horizon are more similar to the Baltic, ie a variation f 6sn7. The anode load pentodes in Horizon maybe could take F2a, but I think it would be a waste.

i looked up the owners man i could not see any output imp spec . but lampi does say an amp below 6k input imp some dynamics may be lost . a good rule is 10 to 1 as such 600 se seems correct and a bal will be doubled if measured across both pos phases . The amp also doubles from se to bal as well . im not a fan of no preamp if active but i can see the dac could drive amps direct . in a given system that has more then one source direct becomes moot i think . either way lampi has done it yet again with a truly new digital audio product with tubes got to love this .
ive owned lampi dacs for many years and each level or even style has its own new sound . i haver a trp and it uses some of these type tubes . This tells me it will be a very fast effortless sound making it closer to real music . Maybe lampi will be the one to truly approach the analog gods that rule audio . ill get to hear this new marvel in Florida a great place to hear great audio .
Its listed on the website. Also Horizon is in the family of Baltic Dac, not Atlantic TRP....though the anode load tubes are pentodes.

Striking! Congratulations!

I would really like to hear folks' comments on the amount of "self noise" they hear between the two units. I have owned the B7 SE, GG1 Balanced, and now the Pacific SE, and all three Lampi's have exhibited a bit more self noise than is ideal, in my system, electrical feed, etc. Of course, tubed equipment is more prone to this than ss, but the Lampi's seem to have more transformer buzz (both mechanical and reflected in the signal) than other tubed gear I have owned. How does this Horizon compare, then, in this aspect vs. the Pacific? Thanks!

Oh, and when I was walking my dog in our -7ºF splendor this morning, I couldn't help reflecting on how nice it would be to be there for all of the tube heated fun!

Regarding noise, my GG’s had a little mechanical transformer noise, but nothing to speak of at the outputs. My Pacific is dead quiet. Zero transformer noise. Very clean output. Overall it is the quietest piece of tube gear I’ve owned. I am expecting the same from the Horizon.
